Greening and unsealing grants

Stadt GermeringNěmeckoaž 2,5 tis. EUR

Property owners and owners’ associations can receive up to €2,500 to remove sealed surfaces and plant them on residential properties in Germering.

Tato příležitost je nyní dostupná v angličtině.

Remove hard surfaces and plant the cleared ground with support under route I of the municipal greening programme. Eligible work includes removing and disposing of concrete, paving or asphalt and their supporting layers, preparing the soil and planting trees, shrubs, perennials or flowers. Courtyard driveways and front gardens are examples.

The grant pays up to 40% of eligible material and contractor costs, capped at €2,500; the rules state gross maximum amounts. Payment follows completion. This route can receive support once per property per year. Prefer native plants that tolerate heat and drought, and insect-friendly plants.

Eligibility

  • The project must be on a private, developed property within Germering used exclusively for housing. The property owner or an authorised representative may apply, including a representative of an owners’ association. Representatives must provide written authority.
  • Remove sealed surfacing over at least 10 m². A specialist contractor must normally carry out the work. The city may exceptionally fund documented material costs for work you do yourself, deciding after application.
  • Work must be voluntary. Greening required by law, local rules or other public-law obligations is excluded. Redesigning already fully unsealed ground or replacing planting on already green areas is excluded.
  • Converting a fully sealed surface to a partly sealed surface is normally excluded. An exception applies where cars must still be able to use the area, for example grass pavers or reinforced grass; the unsealed area must no longer contribute runoff.
  • You must not have applied for or received any other public funding for the same measure.
  • Keep the funded condition for at least ten years. Report changes affecting the programme’s aims during that period and, if requested, prove that the work remains maintained. A substantial departure from the funded condition before the ten years expire requires proportionate repayment.

Funding depends on the available municipal budget and an individual decision; satisfying the conditions does not guarantee a grant. Incorrect application details or failure to follow the rules may lead to withdrawal and full or partial recovery. Other necessary permissions remain your responsibility, as do suitable planning, execution and safety of the funded work. The city accepts no liability for damage caused by the greening.

  • Subject to available municipal funds and individual approval. Apply before starting; commission implementation only after funding approval.
  • Completion documents, invoices and photographs must arrive by 30 November 2026. Rules valid through 31 December 2026.

Submit the signed route I application to Stadt Germering, Stabsstelle Klimaschutz, Rathausplatz 1, 82110 Germering; the office’s email is Klimaschutz@germering.bayern.de. Include the project area, description, property address, photographs of the current condition, ownership or representation details and payment-account details. Publication consent for photographs on the form is voluntary.

Apply before commissioning a contractor or buying materials, as either counts as starting the project. Wait for the city’s funding approval before commissioning implementation.

After finishing, submit proof of eligible costs, a complete invoice overview and photographs of the transformed area. These must reach the city by 30 November of the current financial year; for the 2026 rules, that is 30 November 2026. Plan the application, approval and work to meet that completion-proof deadline. The city then pays the grant. The current rules apply through 31 December 2026.
