E-mobility grant
Grants for electric cargo bikes, mopeds, charging equipment and charging plans for green-electricity customers living or working in the Mainzer Netze area.
Tato příležitost je nyní dostupná v angličtině.
The programme supports the move to electric mobility as part of Mainz’s climate action plan. Mainzer Stadtwerke Energie und Service GmbH pays a one-time gross grant after checking and approving your claim.
The standard grant covers:
- Electric cargo bikes: EUR 300 for a permitted total weight up to 190 kg, or EUR 700 from 191 kg, including rider and load. The bike must be designed to carry people and loads, with substantially more carrying space than a normal bike, an extended wheelbase and a permanently attached carrying unit. Oversized racks alone and bikes retrofitted with electric drive do not qualify. The limit is one grant per customer per year.
- Electric mopeds: EUR 300 for a vehicle requiring insurance, road approval and a registration plate, with a maximum speed of at least 25 km/h. Small electric vehicles such as standing e-scooters are excluded. The limit is one grant per customer per year.
- Wallboxes: EUR 400 for purchase and installation of a unit with at least one Type 2 connection and at least 11 kW charging power. A specialist must install it and notify the network operator; submit proof of notification with the claim. It must use certified green electricity supplied by Mainzer Stadtwerke Energie und Service GmbH. The limit is four charging stations per customer per year.
- Business charging pillars or double charging stations: EUR 600 per unit, with at least two Type 2 charging points and at least 11 kW per point. A specialist must install the unit in the Mainzer Netze area and notify the network operator; provide proof with the claim. Every point must use the provider’s certified green electricity, and the unit must serve more than one fully electric vehicle. The limit is four pillars or four double charging stations per customer per year.
- Charging-infrastructure concepts and planning for businesses and housing: 50% of costs, capped at EUR 1,500 per concept. A qualified company must prepare the concept, covering the starting situation, objectives, grid-connection analysis, infrastructure design and a concrete implementation recommendation.
Eligibility
You must live or work in the Mainzer Netze GmbH network area. The standard programme is for private individuals and businesses, with additional applicant categories for charging plans. Eligible new purchases and charging concepts are covered from 1 January 2026.
For the planning category, eligible applicants include public- and private-law legal entities, freelancers and sole traders, homeowners’ associations (WEGs), owners of rental buildings with at least four dwellings each, owners of at least five commercially used vehicles, and employers with at least five employee parking spaces.
You must take out or already hold a green-electricity supply contract with Mainzer Stadtwerke Energie und Service GmbH and keep it in force. No grant is paid if cancellation or withdrawal from that contract is already in place when you apply. If it ends within one year after application for a reason attributable to you, you must repay the grant proportionately by month.
You must not have applied, or apply, for another state subsidy or a subsidy from another energy supplier for the same measure. If you sell a funded vehicle or charging infrastructure within three years after receiving the grant, you must notify the provider and repay the grant proportionately by month.
