Rainwater cistern grant
Property owners in Schwerte can receive up to EUR750 for an underground rainwater cistern at an already developed residential property.
Tato příležitost je nyní dostupná v angličtině.
Use stored rainwater for garden irrigation or nonpotable household use. The programme aims to save drinking water and improve protection against flooding during heavy rain.
The one-off grant pays EUR150 for each whole cubic metre of storage, up to EUR750. Your cistern must hold at least 3 cubic metres. Funding is voluntary with no legal entitlement, and available funds are allocated in the order that requests arrive.
Eligibility
- You must own the property. It must be in Schwerte, already developed and used for housing. The underground cistern must be a voluntary installation. Only one system per property is funded.
- Apply before construction starts. The application asks you to confirm that work has not begun.
- For household use, the connection must prevent cistern water flowing back into the public network: use a free inlet above the overflow or install a pipe interrupter. If you install a separate household rainwater supply, distinguish the visible pipes of the different systems by colour.
- The first flush of rainwater should be directed to the sewer to reduce contamination.
