Grants for prequalified suppliers replacing oil, gas or wood-pellet boilers with heat pumps on subscription, reducing the customer’s upfront payment.

Tato příležitost je nyní dostupná v angličtině.

The supplier owns the heat pump and handles installation, operation, maintenance and heat supply. The customer pays an upfront amount, a subscription fee and for delivered heat. The full grant must reduce the upfront payment; the contract must show that payment with and without the grant.

For each heat pump, the grant is the lower of DKK 25,000 and 45% of eligible costs when replacing oil or gas, or 25% when replacing wood pellets. Eligible costs are the pump and metering equipment, excluding installation, recoverable VAT and rebates. Deduct DKK 3,500 for an oil replacement or DKK 5,000 for gas; the guide’s pellet example uses the purchase cost without this deduction. Only one pump per address can receive support.

The final grant uses actual paid eligible costs and cannot exceed the commitment. You cannot receive other aid for the same eligible costs, or support for costs receiving funding through Energispareordningen.

Eligibility

  • Apply as a subscription supplier prequalified by Energistyrelsen. You normally need the organisation to handle installation, service and customer administration, experience installing and servicing household pumps, capital or an investor agreement sufficient for at least 100 pumps, and capacity to serve at least one Danish region. Energistyrelsen may vary these requirements where special circumstances justify it.
  • Install a main electricity meter and use pricing that separates annual subscription, payment per kWh of delivered heat and the upfront payment. Normally retain ownership for at least ten years and handle purchase, installation, operation, maintenance and heat supply. After project completion, transfer to another company needs prior agency agreement; transfer of grant rights and duties needs written consent. The customer may take ownership before the contract ends if they wish. The contract must set out customer exit terms.
  • The building must be registered in BBR, Denmark’s building and dwelling register, principally for year-round residential use. Holiday homes lawfully used as year-round homes and homes with professional business use are included. It must be outside existing or approved future district-heating areas, and cannot belong to you or a company in your group. Confirm unclear district-heating boundaries with the municipality.
  • Replace and scrap the existing oil, gas or wood-pellet boiler with an electric heat pump using renewable energy, such as air-to-water or ground-source. For a pellet replacement, an energy performance certificate must have been prepared for the building; an expired certificate is acceptable.
  • The installation must depend on the grant. Do not purchase equipment or begin work before the agency issues its commitment. Customer contracts must be conditional on that commitment; a non-binding bulk purchase agreement conditional on the grant is permitted.
  • You must not be an undertaking in difficulty under the EU state-aid definition, or have an outstanding recovery order for aid declared unlawful and incompatible by the European Commission. The financial-difficulty test includes being in insolvency proceedings or meeting the criteria for them, outstanding rescue aid, or an ongoing restructuring plan; it also checks capital losses and, for large firms, financial ratios. See the agency’s full definition for the applicable tests and exceptions. These conditions continue through payment. Declare compliance and tell Energistyrelsen promptly if financial distress or an aid-recovery issue arises.

How to apply

Apply through Energistyrelsen’s grant portal for prequalification, accept the decision in the portal, then submit the grant application with signed customer contracts conditional on support. Prequalification can be requested at any time. Separate grant applications by region.

The announced 2026 intake starts on 7 January at 10:00. Applications and the signed conditional contracts must reach Energistyrelsen before 1 December in the funding year. Applications are processed first come first served within the available allocation.

Wait for the commitment before purchasing or starting installation. For new commitments, use an authorised installer. Complete by the date in your commitment: the guide normally allows one year where the expected finish is less than a year after award, or the stated finish date up to two years after award. Request an extension before it expires. Apply in writing for approval of project changes in reasonable time before the completion deadline; the agency may reduce the grant.

After installation and boiler scrappage, request payment through the portal within 120 days of installing the last pump covered by the commitment. Extensions are possible only in special cases where the project has started and the application faces significant difficulties or events similar to force majeure. You must still meet prequalification conditions at payment.

Submit paid-cost documentation and project accounts, including the customer’s confirmation that the pump was installed and boiler scrapped. Eligible work or supplies must come from a VAT-registered business, unless Energistyrelsen waives this for VAT-exempt activities. Unless the commitment says otherwise, the guide requires annual audited project accounts once cumulative grants reach DKK 1 million.

Provide further records when requested and notify Energistyrelsen of changes affecting qualification, award or payment. Failure to meet grant conditions, approved project scope or deadlines, or providing misleading information, can lead to cancellation or repayment.
