Up to €2,100 for Ameland owner-occupiers to buy and install insulation themselves through the municipality-only reimbursement route.

Tato příležitost je nyní dostupná v angličtině.

This page covers future DIY work through Duurzaam Bouwloket’s municipality-only route, called reimbursement B. You buy and install the insulation, then receive money back after your receipts and installation evidence have been checked. The grant covers up to 100% of eligible actual costs, within €2,100 per application; only one award is available per home.

Eligible purchases include insulation materials for existing walls, roofs, attic floors, floors or the ground beneath the home. The operator’s list includes mineral wool, glass wool, wood wool, flax, PIR, EPS and XPS. Listed accessories such as membranes, fixings, tape and draught strips, finishing boards and timber battens for the insulation frame qualify only when bought with insulation material.

Application preparation, technical advice, ecological studies, costs already subsidized elsewhere and recoverable taxes are excluded. Complete applications are considered in order of receipt, within the separate €13,685 DIY budget. Simultaneous applications that would exceed the budget are ranked by lottery.

Eligibility

  • You must own and live in the home on Ameland as your main residence and be registered there in the municipal population register. This DIY route is for a house without another home or building above or below it; apartments do not qualify.
  • The home’s WOZ value—the official property valuation—must be no more than €351,000 at the valuation date of 1 January 2022. It must have energy label D, E, F or G, or at least two poorly insulated building components under the municipal definitions.
  • The municipal table classifies poor insulation by component: roofs with less than 9 cm insulation or thermal resistance Rc no more than 2.0; attic floors with no existing insulation and Rc no more than 0.5, used instead of roof insulation for an unheated attic with a closed hatch or door; walls with Rc no more than 1.1 and no cavity, internal or external wall insulation; floors/ground with no or poor insulation, less than 5 cm and Rc no more than 1.3; and glazing with Ug at least 1.6. Rc measures resistance to heat loss; Ug measures heat passing through glass.
  • Reimbursement B is the operator’s branch for gross 2024 annual income above €25,350 if single, or above €35,908 together if married or cohabiting. You cannot register for both reimbursement A and B.
  • Improve the existing parts of the home that keep heat inside; extensions and new-build work are excluded. Ameland expressly waives DIY minimum areas and minimum insulation-value requirements. The operator’s maximum areas are 170 m² for wall or cavity-wall insulation, 200 m² for roof or attic-floor insulation and 130 m² for floor or ground insulation. Combined floor/ground or roof/attic-floor measures must cover different parts of the home, rather than being placed over each other.
  • Work must comply with the law and be financially and practically feasible. Before insulating walls or roofs, have a professional company check for bats or other animals; where present, they must be relocated in a wildlife-friendly way. You are responsible for nature-friendly insulation.

  • Fresh applications for future DIY work through the municipality-only reimbursement B route; complete applications in order of receipt within the separate €13,685 DIY budget.
  • Work must finish within 12 months of award and no later than 31 December 2027.

Start through Duurzaam Bouwloket’s reimbursement B application page. The application checks whether you qualify; choose the DIY option, then the money is reserved before you buy and install the insulation. Intake runs until the published closing date while budget remains.

Complete the work within 12 months of the award and no later than 31 December 2027. A one-time extension can be requested if you can demonstrate why completion within 12 months is impossible, but it cannot go beyond 31 December 2027.

Within eight weeks of finishing, submit the final reimbursement claim. Send purchase receipts or invoices, payment evidence and dated photos before, during and after installation. Evidence must show the area installed, product name/type, brand or manufacturer, insulation material and thickness, purchase and installation dates, your address, and the amount and date paid. Submit evidence for all measures together.

Keep original invoices and other evidence for at least five years after the final grant determination. Cooperate with spot checks, including home visits, for up to six months after that determination.
