EV charging grants for shared residential parking
Property managers, factors and organisations representing residential owners in Scotland can receive up to £20,000 per project for EV charging in private communal parking.

The Factored development charge point funding grant, funded by Transport Scotland and managed by Energy Saving Trust, helps residents of developments with shared property management install electric vehicle charging in private communal parking. It reimburses up to 100% of eligible purchase and installation costs, up to £20,000 per project application.
At least 75% of the funded charge points must be live and immediately available when you claim. Eligible work includes electrical work for future charge points and supporting groundwork such as excavation, conduits and trenching. The grant does not cover installation of charge points fitted after the claim. Other grants, discounts or lower final costs can reduce payment; you cover any remaining balance.
Eligibility
Apply as the property manager, factor or organisation representing residential owners' interests, with written consent and authority from the owners before applying. The consent must explicitly permit charging infrastructure on their shared property. The installation must be at a Scottish residential address you manage, with private communal parking. That address must not previously have received this fund.
The terms allow organisations registered on the Scottish Property Factor Register or organisations representing owners' interests, such as housing associations, retirement communities and student halls.
Use an installer approved by Energy Saving Trust and the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV), and an OZEV-authorised charge point model. The applicant organisation must submit its own application and appear by name on supporting documents. An installer or other third party cannot apply for you. You can give written permission for a third party to communicate with Energy Saving Trust.
Declare public financial support governed by subsidy-control rules in the Minimal Financial Assistance category, and comparable subsidies, received by you, your business and group companies in the three years before the agreement, including outstanding applications. Energy Saving Trust must be satisfied that the relevant total including this grant stays within the £315,000 threshold.
Before applying, disclose convictions of the applicant, its directors, or anyone with powers to represent, make decisions for or control the organisation for the offences specified in Regulation 57 of the Public Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2015, referenced in clause 29 of the linked grant terms. Also disclose insolvency or suspended-business circumstances, grave professional misconduct, and unpaid tax or social-security obligations. Disclosed circumstances are assessed individually; failure to disclose leads to rejection. Energy Saving Trust may consider exceptions to eligibility on their merits. Breaching eligibility after payment requires full repayment.

- Accept within 14 days or by 11 February 2027, whichever is earlier. Complete installation and claim by offer expiry or 3 March 2027, whichever is earlier.
Obtain the owners' written consent and an eligible installer's quote, then complete the online application linked from the official programme page. Read its eligibility guidance and terms before submitting. If eligible for the separate UK EV charge point grant for landlords, apply alongside this grant and tell your installer about that application.
Receive and accept a grant offer before installation starts; work already underway or complete cannot be funded. Return the completed acceptance form within 14 days of the offer or by 11 February 2027, whichever is earlier. Offers normally last three months unless otherwise stated. Finish installation and claim by your offer expiry or 3 March 2027, whichever is earlier. Any replacement installer's quote needs Energy Saving Trust approval before work begins. Report delays promptly; extensions are not guaranteed.
After installation and commissioning, pay the installer and email Energy Saving Trust the paid invoice and Electrical Installation Certificate, following the claim instructions in your offer. Payment goes to your nominated business bank account after checks. Ensure at least 75% of funded charge points are live and available at claim. Awards are first come, first served while funds remain, and the fund can close during the 2026/27 financial year.
