Venture Builder Cambridge

Carbon13Anglie

A three-phase programme for individuals to find co-founders and build a climate-tech startup, with selected teams considered for equity investment.

Tato příležitost je nyní dostupná v angličtině.

The programme starts with co-founder matching and choosing a problem to address. Teams that form successfully move on to test the customer problem, value proposition and potential emissions impact.

At the end of the second phase, teams that meet Carbon13's progress criteria may pitch to its investment committee. The committee selects which ventures receive an equity investment and continue to the third phase, where Carbon13 supports customer traction and preparation for later fundraising.

Eligibility

Apply as an individual. You can be pre-team, pre-investment or pre-idea, and you do not need to live in Cambridge or the UK. You must, however, be able to attend the in-person part of the programme in Cambridge.

You will need to:

  • commit to trying to build a scalable venture that could reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by 10 million tonnes of CO2e a year at full scale;
  • form a co-founding team during the first phase to continue to the second phase;
  • work in a relevant area such as energy, buildings and construction, manufacturing, transport, agriculture and food, finance or consumer products.

You may apply with an early-stage business or after raising investment. If you already have a team, at least two team members must apply individually and identify their co-founder in the second-stage application.

An idea is not generally required. Carbon13 says scientists and engineers working in the physical or natural sciences are typically expected to bring the beginnings of an idea, or at least a field they want to explore for startup opportunities.

If your team is selected for investment, the business must be incorporated in the UK.
