Ecological transition fund: bicycle purchases

Commune du Grand-SaconnexŠvýcarsko

Grants cover 15% of an ordinary bicycle purchase, up to CHF 200, for Grand-Saconnex residents, businesses and nonprofit associations.

Tato příležitost je nyní dostupná v angličtině.

The Fonds communal pour la transition écologique supports local environmental action, including cycling. This entry covers GS-M-02, the purchase of a roadworthy bicycle without electric assistance. The grant is 15% of the purchase price, capped at CHF 200; the municipality may reassess the amount when a business or association buys several bicycles.

Awards are first come, first served within the annual municipal budget. A file number does not guarantee funding: only the signed municipal award letter confirms it. Combined public subsidies normally cannot exceed 75% of the total project cost, and must never exceed that cost; the municipality may reduce its grant at or above the 75% threshold. The fund also has an overall ceiling of CHF 50,000 per project.

Eligibility

  • Individuals must have their official home in Grand-Saconnex. Children below school age are excluded. Businesses and nonprofit associations qualify if their registered office and/or activities are in the municipality.
  • Buy a roadworthy, non-electric bicycle in the canton of Geneva for at least CHF 300. Secondhand bicycles qualify, but purchases between private individuals do not.
  • The subsidy is available once every five years per person, business or association. Only voluntary projects, or the part exceeding legal requirements, can receive support.
  • Payment goes to the owner of the bicycle or an authorized representative. Applying authorizes the municipality to use your file in its ecological transition communications.

You must report project changes or changes in circumstances during the award procedure; the municipality may amend or refuse the grant if eligibility no longer holds. It can inspect supported objects and projects until 24 months after completion. The municipality withdraws, reduces or recovers grants awarded improperly, used incorrectly or in breach of their conditions; it can claim repayment up to ten years after the award.

How to apply

Podmínky daného kola žádostí
  • Applications are in force for purchases after 3 February 2025. Apply before purchase or within three months; municipal acknowledgement date governs. Funding ends automatically when the annual budget is exhausted.

Complete, date and sign the municipal Mobility and Resources form, selecting GS-M-02. Email the full file to fonds-transition@grand-saconnex.ch, or post it to Commune du Grand-Saconnex, Service Aménagement, Travaux Publics et Energie, Case postale 127, 1218 Le Grand-Saconnex.

Submit before purchase or no later than three months afterwards; the date on the municipal acknowledgement that the application is being considered determines whether it met the deadline. For the bicycle purchase, provide the original paid invoice dated less than three months ago, bank details and an identity document; businesses provide a commercial-register extract or official proof of the activity address, and associations provide their statutes. Incomplete, unsigned or undated applications are returned.

Declare other contributions, including pending applications. If another federal, cantonal or other subsidy allows an application before work, apply there before filing with the municipality and include the relevant application copy. The municipality may ask for further documents.

An award is valid for at most 24 months from receipt of the positive decision. Before expiry, send the signed completion certificate and required annexes. An exceptional extension, normally at most six months, needs a reasoned written request before expiry. Payment documents must be supplied within three months of completion: the final invoice, bank details, a copy of the completion report and, where applicable, the other authority’s award decision and required authorizations. Payment follows confirmation of compliance; lower actual costs reduce the grant, while cost overruns do not increase the awarded sum.
