Heat pump rebate
Paxton electricity customers can receive up to $1,500 per address each calendar year for installing an eligible air-source or ground-source heat pump in their home.

The rebate supports heat pumps that heat and cool all or part of your home. Air-source systems receive $500 per ton of cooling capacity; ground-source systems receive $750 per ton. One ton equals 12,000 BTUs, the unit used to measure the system’s cooling capacity.
The combined rebate cannot exceed $1,500 per address per calendar year. Paxton Municipal Light Department calculates the exact prorated payment using the cooling capacity on your AHRI equipment certificate, rather than a rounded system size.
Eligibility
You must be a Paxton Municipal Light Department electricity customer and provide your account number and the equipment’s service address.
- Air-source heat pumps must have SEER2 of at least 15.2, HSPF2 of at least 8.1 and COP of at least 1.5 at 5°F. Obtain the AHRI equipment certificate from your contractor and record the system’s ratings on the form. Rounding ratings up is not allowed.
- Ground-source heat pumps must have EER2 of at least 19.2 and COP of at least 3.5. Obtain the AHRI equipment certificate from your contractor and record the system’s ratings on the form without rounding them up.
- A licensed contractor must install the heat pump. Self-installations and ductless mini-splits that only provide cooling are excluded.
- You must purchase and install the equipment between 1 January and 31 December 2026.
- Your signature confirms that you have received your contractor’s Manual J sizing report, the report used to size the system, and that you are satisfied the heat pump will meet your heating and air-conditioning needs.

Complete and sign both pages of the 2026 rebate form. Obtain the AHRI equipment certificate from your contractor and include a copy of the contractor’s invoice showing the installation date and address, cooling capacity in BTUs, total installation cost and outdoor unit model number.
Mail the documents to Paxton Municipal Light Department, 578 Pleasant Street, Paxton, MA 01612. Your application must be postmarked by 31 January 2027. The department asks you to allow two to three weeks for processing.
