Energy-efficiency rebates
Cooperative members can receive $200 per ton for qualifying air-source and mini-split heat pumps installed on its electricity network.

This rebate supports qualifying air-source and mini-split heat pumps. The rebate is $200 per ton of equipment capacity, with one ton defined as 12,000 British thermal units per hour (BTU/h). For capacity below one ton, round up to the nearest quarter ton; above one ton, round up to the nearest half ton. Multiply this size by the quantity of units and $200 to calculate the requested rebate.
The rebate cannot exceed equipment cost. Prescriptive rebates across the programme are capped at $20,000 per member account. You cannot claim a rebate for both a product and its component, such as a heat pump and its blower motor. Rebates of $400 or less are credited to your electricity account and appear on your monthly bill.
Eligibility
- You must be a member of People’s Energy Cooperative and install the equipment on its electricity network. Its service territory covers parts of Dodge, Fillmore, Mower, Olmsted, Wabasha and Winona counties in Minnesota; installation on Cooperative lines is required.
- For the air-source and mini-split route, the heat pump must have both SEER2 of at least 14.3 and HSPF2 of at least 7.5, or both SEER of at least 15 and HSPF of at least 8.8. These are the equipment’s seasonal cooling and heating efficiency ratings; submit the AHRI certificate showing the certified reference number, manufacturer and applicable efficiency values.
- Install the equipment in 2026. Submit your claim within three months of installation and before December 31, 2026. Funding is available until that date or until funds are depleted. Additional eligibility criteria may apply, and individual rebate criteria can change or be cancelled without notice.

Complete and sign the 2026 HVAC rebate form. Attach the AHRI certificate, a receipt or invoice for each item with the purchase price and purchase/install date circled, and proof of installation date. Fill in all member and equipment information, including manufacturer, AHRI certified reference number and efficiency ratings.
Email the form and documents to rebates@peoplesenergy.coop or mail them to People’s Energy Cooperative, 1775 Lake Shady Ave South, Oronoco, MN 55960. A Cooperative representative approves or rejects the request and confirms the rebate issued. Allow six to eight weeks for processing. For programme information, call Member Services at (800) 214-2694.
