Green energy home improvement loan
Borrow up to €75,000 for home energy improvements if you live or work in County Louth or County Monaghan and join the credit union.

The loan finances retrofit work on your home to improve its energy efficiency and reduce energy bills. You borrow money from North East Credit Union and repay the loan with interest over an agreed term of up to ten years.
Loans over €25,000 have a published variable interest rate of 5.99% (6.16% APR). Loans under €25,000 have a variable rate of 6.99% (7.22% APR). APR means annual percentage rate. As an example, borrowing €30,000 over ten years means monthly repayments of €332.91 and total repayment of €39,949.30, including €9,949.30 in interest cost.
There is no penalty for repaying early. Your credit agreement sets the final interest, fees, charges and any approval conditions. Those conditions may include holding your credit-union savings as security for the loan; savings pledged as security cannot be withdrawn while pledged.
Eligibility
- You must become a North East Credit Union member. Membership is available if you live or work in County Louth or County Monaghan.
- The loan is for energy-efficiency retrofit work on your home.
- The amount approved depends on what you can afford to repay, within this product’s €75,000 limit. Satisfactory credit checks and the credit union’s lending assessment are required.

- Membership must be approved before you use lending services.
You can join and apply on the same day. Use North East Credit Union’s online membership process, available to people aged 16 and over; loan application access starts once membership is approved.
To join, provide a current passport or driving licence, a utility bill or bank statement in your name dated within six months, and proof of your Personal Public Service (PPS) number. Accepted PPS evidence includes a payslip or Revenue or Department of Social Protection correspondence; the credit union does not accept a Public Services Card for this purpose.
