Climate-adaptation grant for rainwater storage

Municipality of HarderwijkNizozemsko20 EUR a více

Grants for adult owners or tenants to install rain barrels, rain columns or rain-storage fence sections at a property in Harderwijk.

Tato příležitost je nyní dostupná v angličtině.

You can receive €40 for each rain barrel or €50 for each rain column or rain-storage fence section. Funding covers at most two units per property: two barrels receive €80, while two columns or fence sections receive €100. Each unit must hold at least 100 litres and be installed permanently at the property. This entry covers individual rain-storage applications within the wider climate-adaptation scheme.

The grant helps with local measures against heavy rainfall, drought and heat. The municipality reports €80,000 available across the scheme, with figures adjusted on 21 August 2026. Of this, at most €18,000 is available for Groen/Blauw and €16,000 for external sunshades or heat-resistant glazing; these are scheme budgets, not individual awards.

Eligibility

  • You must be an adult who owns the property, or a tenant or leaseholder applying with the owner’s written consent. The property must be legally built, registered in the Dutch buildings and addresses register (BAG), and within Harderwijk. A qualifying property includes its garden, grounds and outbuildings.
  • Buy the materials no more than six months before installation. Apply only after installation and no later than six months after completion. Request at least €20. You may submit one application per property per calendar year for this category.
  • The installation must serve the scheme’s climate purpose, be sound, robust and weather-resistant, meet applicable rules and have any required permits. Replacing, repairing or extending existing equipment does not qualify. Apply for only one facility for the same purpose.
  • Keep the equipment permanently in place and maintain it properly. Supply requested information and cooperate with spot checks, including visits to the property. If you share costs with neighbours, each owner applies for their own share unless using the separate bundled-application route.
  • You cannot receive duplicate subsidy for an activity whose full requested amount is already funded through another scheme or budget. Applications that do not meet the rules are refused; if a refusal ground is discovered after an award, the grant is withdrawn and recovered. The general €150 refusal threshold does not apply to this scheme.
  • Notify the municipality promptly in writing if funded work or grant obligations will not be met fully or on time, and of relevant financial or organisational changes or developments affecting compliance. If the grant creates assets, you may owe compensation up to the value created by the grant when those goods are sold, encumbered or put to another use; when you receive compensation for their loss or damage; when funded activities stop; when the grant is withdrawn or ended. The applicable rules or award must provide for this compensation and define its calculation. The municipality may also refuse funding where its necessity or benefit to the municipality is not demonstrated, where it breaches the law, or where the applicant has a profit motive or the activity carries a political, religious or ideological message.

  • Apply only after installation, within six months of completion. Materials must have been purchased no more than six months before installation. Complete applications are considered while funds remain.[^c6][^c9]

After installation, apply to the Municipality of Harderwijk through its subsidy portal using DigiD. Complete and sign the form. Attach invoices in your name with technical specifications and purchase and installation dates, and at least one before photograph and one after photograph for each requested facility, clearly showing the property. Add required permits and the owner’s written consent if you rent or lease. The municipality may request further information.

Complete applications are considered in order of receipt while funds remain. If applications completed on the same date cannot all be funded, allocation is by lottery. An application exceeding the remaining budget is refused, although later smaller applications that fit may still be considered.

The municipality decides within eight weeks after receiving a complete application, with a possible one-off four-week extension. Approval and final determination occur together, and payment follows within four weeks of final determination.
