Energy Wise residential heat-pump rebates
Residential electricity members can receive $400–$600 for a qualifying ductless heat pump or $500 for a qualifying heat-pump water heater.

Energy Wise offers rebates when you install a ductless heat pump or a heat-pump water heater. A ductless system heats and cools rooms using an outdoor unit connected to indoor units, without needing ducts throughout your home.
The ductless rebate is $400 or $600, depending on the equipment ratings and listing described below. The heat-pump water-heater rebate is $500, paid by check. Allow 8–12 weeks for processing either application.
Funding is limited and awarded first come, first served. Rebate amounts and programmes can change or be cancelled without notice.
Eligibility
You must be a residential Dakota Electric member. Install the equipment at the service address on your application, which must have a valid cooperative account. The cooperative serves parts of Dakota, Goodhue, Scott and Rice counties in Minnesota; living elsewhere in the state alone does not qualify you.
Buy the equipment on or after 1 January 2026. The following conditions apply to each rebate:
- Ductless heat pump, $400: capacity must be greater than 1 ton, with SEER2 of at least 14.3 and HSPF2 of at least 7.5. Compare these cooling and heating efficiency ratings in the equipment specifications with the form’s requirements.
- Ductless heat pump, $600: capacity must be greater than 1 ton and the model must be CEE Tier 1 listed. The form gives two rating combinations: 16 SEER2 with 8.5 HSPF2 and 9.8 EER2; or 16 SEER2 with 8 HSPF2 and 11 EER2. Check the model’s listed ratings and CEE Tier 1 listing against one of those combinations; the ratings alone do not replace the listing requirement.
- Heat-pump water heater, $500: buy and install an ENERGY STAR rated model that appears on ENERGY STAR’s qualifying product list. You can receive only one water-heater rebate per member account per year.

- Equipment purchases must be on or after 1 January 2026. Submit a heat-pump water-heater application within one year of purchase.[^c6][^c9][^c11]
Complete and sign the relevant 2026 rebate form. Your signature confirms installation at the stated address and a valid cooperative account; for a water heater, it also confirms the product qualifies for ENERGY STAR. Incomplete forms will not be processed.
For a ductless heat pump, attach proof of purchase. For a heat-pump water heater, attach the dated sales receipt and submit the application within one year of purchase. Mail the completed application to Rebates, Dakota Electric Association, 4300 220th Street West, Farmington, MN 55024.
