Residential HVAC replacement rebates
Rebates for residential customers of member municipal utilities replacing heating or cooling equipment to reduce electricity use.
Tato příležitost je nyní dostupná v angličtině.
The residential route supports one-for-one replacements: heat pumps rated at least 16.0 SEER2 receive $150, central air conditioning rated at least 16.0 SEER2 receives $125, and geothermal systems receive $175 if rated at least 17.1 SEER for closed-loop systems or 21.1 SEER for open-loop systems. SEER and SEER2 are equipment efficiency ratings; use the rating specified for your equipment category.
The $10,000 limit applies to all of a customer’s incentive projects in a calendar year. Each piece of equipment can receive only one incentive, and the rebate cannot exceed the installed measure’s cost excluding labour. Payments go directly to the customer, generally electronically within six to eight weeks after a complete final application.
IMPA must receive all energy savings for the equipment’s rated life or three years after receipt of the incentive, whichever is shorter. Failure to provide the savings, closure or cessation of the facility’s operations within three years, or leaving the local municipal utility within three years requires a proportionate refund based on how long the equipment was installed.
Eligibility
- You must have an active residential electricity account with a municipal utility served by IMPA. Member utilities operate in Indiana and Ohio; eligibility is limited to their service territories.
- Install qualifying replacement equipment in an existing building within your local utility’s service territory. New construction is excluded. The existing equipment must have been operational when the new equipment is installed or the application is submitted.
- Equipment or retrofit components must be new, meet the application specifications, and comply with applicable laws and building codes. Remove or permanently disconnect replaced equipment that is not part of a retrofit. Used or rebuilt equipment and components do not qualify.
- Savings must result from improved system efficiency. Fuel switching, peak shaving, demand limiting, generation, renewable energy and operating schedule changes do not qualify.
- If the building is leased, at least three years must remain on the lease; a copy may be required before payment. IMPA or your utility may inspect the project before and after installation.

For final payment, submit the complete signed final application, itemised invoices identifying each measure and its installation details, manufacturer specification sheets, and your latest electricity bill if not already provided.
