Solar installation rebate

HILCO Electric CooperativeTexasaž 300 USD

A one-time rebate for HILCO members installing solar panels at their home, paying $100 per kW up to $300.

Tato příležitost je nyní dostupná v angličtině.

Install solar panels at your home and receive a one-time rebate based on the system’s generation capacity: $100 per installed kilowatt (kW), up to $300 per membership.

This entry covers residential systems with alternating-current (AC) output below 50 kW and households or memberships claiming no other HILCO rebates in the same year. The solar application limits all HILCO rebates to $500 per household or membership per year; the solar award itself is limited to $300.

Payment for electricity exported to the grid is separate from this installation rebate. HILCO bills electricity it supplies at the retail rate and, if approved by its Board, credits surplus electricity at its avoided-cost rate, based on the price HILCO pays its wholesale electricity suppliers. HILCO can change this rate. Credits accumulate for later bills; at year end or account closure you may request payment of the remaining credit, or carry credits forward.

Eligibility

  • You must be a HILCO Electric Cooperative member and a permanent resident or occupant of the home. Commercial builders cannot receive this rebate.
  • The home must be in HILCO’s service territory, which covers parts of Hill, Johnson, Ellis, Dallas and McLennan counties in Texas.
  • A HILCO representative must inspect your home before installation and again after installation. The final inspection must take place within 60 days of the first inspection and within the current rebate fund year.
  • HILCO must approve your grid-connection application before installation. Obtain all required permits, inspections, approvals and licences. Your system and its electrical components must meet National Electrical Code standards. For electrical safety and grid connection, the equipment must have passed testing to UL 1741 and IEEE 1547, or satisfactory testing by an independent laboratory with published results. Provide manufacturer data or other proof HILCO accepts. Building-mounted solar must include the required rapid-shutdown function to reduce firefighters’ shock risk.
  • For systems below 50 kW AC, the grid-connection application fee is $250 and is nonrefundable even if HILCO declines the installation or you do not install. You also pay any required engineering studies, grid modifications, special metering and connection costs. A study can result in refusal.
  • Provide an insurance certificate before grid connection. Liability cover for claims connected with the equipment is recommended; HILCO may increase the insurance amount where the project requires it. Give HILCO 30 days’ written notice before changing or cancelling the policy and provide proof on request.
  • You are responsible for designing, installing, operating, maintaining and repairing your system. The connection agreement makes you responsible for defending HILCO and covering claims, losses and legal costs connected with your system or breached representations. The agreement lasts one year initially and then continues; either party can end it with at least 30 days’ written notice after the initial year.
  • Allow HILCO reasonable access to inspect the system, test or read meters and maintain its facilities. HILCO can interrupt exported power for work on its network and disconnect a hazardous system without notice.

  • 2026 rebate fund year; final inspection within 60 days of first inspection and within that fund year.
  • Available only while rebate funds remain.
  • This entry covers households or memberships claiming no other HILCO rebates that year and residential systems below 50 kW AC.

Call HILCO at (800) 338-6425 before installing to arrange the required first inspection.

Send the grid-connection application, Distributed Generation Agreement and a one-line diagram of the electrical installation to DGInfo@hilco.coop. Pay the application fee and notify the DG Department when paid. Wait for HILCO’s permission to begin installation. The application form asks you to allow at least ten working days for processing and states that it becomes void if work is not completed within 180 days.

After installation, notify HILCO for the final inspection within the rebate’s 60-day limit and current fund year. HILCO must confirm compliance and safety before authorizing operation. Complete the 2026 online solar rebate form with your account number, signature and date. The rebate ends when its funds are depleted.
