Residential electrification rebates
A $200 standard rebate for residential electricity customers replacing a gas clothes dryer with a new ENERGY STAR-certified heat-pump dryer.

Alameda Municipal Power (AMP) helps households switch appliances to its clean electricity. The standard clothes-dryer rebate is $200 when you replace an existing gas dryer with a qualifying electric heat-pump model.
The payment cannot exceed the equipment’s purchase price before tax, after discounts, credits and other rebates. Awards depend on available funds and are issued in order of application; submitting a claim does not guarantee payment. AMP may change or end the programme without notice.
Eligibility
You must have an active AMP account on its residential D1 rate schedule. Install and use the dryer at your AMP service address in Alameda.
- Replace an existing gas dryer with a new heat-pump clothes dryer carrying ENERGY STAR certification. Gas dryers and electric resistance dryers do not qualify. The purchase must be after 1 May 2025.
- Existing homes qualify; new construction does not. AMP treats installation or remodelling of an additional dwelling unit as new construction.
- Equipment that is resold, gifted, rebuilt, bundled with another purchase or received through a warranty insurance claim is excluded. You must not resell the rebated equipment.
- You are responsible for installation in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and for any required City of Alameda permits and inspections. Final permit issuance may be needed before payment.
- Repeat applications are allowed every five years, subject to the relevant measure’s requirements.
AMP may inspect the installation for 24 months after your application and request additional documents before payment. Refusing these requirements can lead to denial. If you fall out of compliance after payment, you must return the rebate.

- Apply within six months of purchase. Dryer purchases must be after 1 May 2025.
- First-come, first-served while approved funds remain; submitting an application does not guarantee payment.
Review AMP’s residential rebate page before purchasing. Keep a photo of your existing gas dryer and record its make and model. After purchasing and installing the qualifying dryer, submit your rebate claim within six months of the purchase date.
Provide your AMP account number, the old dryer’s make and model with a photo taken before installation, the new dryer’s make, model and serial number with a photo after installation, and a photo of the receipt or proof of purchase. AMP can reject incomplete or noncompliant claims.
