Business energy-efficiency rebates

Commercial, agricultural and industrial MVEC members can receive rebates of up to $5,000 per member for qualifying energy-efficient lighting installations.

Denne finansieringsmulighed er i øjeblikket beskrevet på engelsk.

The lighting route supports LED retrofits, permanently installed automatic lighting controls and qualifying custom lighting projects. Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative pays a rebate incentive check after installation is complete. You can authorize payment to another recipient by signing the application and supplying their mailing address.

Prescriptive rebates use the number and wattage of the new lights installed. For example, qualifying 4-foot LED lamps below 18 W replacing T12 or T8 lamps receive $5 each; refrigerator/freezer case lamps of 5–6 feet receive $20 each. Listed fixture rebates reach $120 for 301–400 W wallpack, soffit, canopy, high/low-bay, pole-mounted or roadway fixtures replacing HID or T12 lighting. Permanent controls receive $5 for a fixture-mounted occupancy sensor, $7 for a photocell, $10 for a wall-mounted occupancy sensor or $20 for a ceiling-mounted occupancy sensor. The total lighting rebate cannot exceed $5,000 per member.

Custom lighting is assessed project by project; confirm its rebate amount with MVEC. Commercial and industrial new construction can qualify through this route using lighting wattage per unit of floor space. Agricultural new construction can also use custom rebates.

Eligibility

You must be a commercial, agricultural or industrial MVEC member purchasing and installing qualifying lighting. The project is for the member installation identified in the application, within the cooperative’s Minnesota service territory.

  • Prescriptive fixtures must be listed by ENERGY STAR or the DesignLights Consortium (DLC), and that listing must cover the intended installation. These are the product qualification lists used by the programme. Equipment without the required listing can be assessed under Custom Lighting.
  • Prescriptive retrofits generally replace incandescent fixtures, fluorescent T12 lamps/fixtures or another fixture type achieving similar reductions in electricity demand, one for one. Screw/pin lamps and troffer, downlight, recessed-can, pendant and surface-mounted fixtures must at least halve wattage. Wallpack, soffit, canopy, high/low-bay, pole-mounted and roadway fixtures must replace high-intensity discharge (HID) or fluorescent T12 lighting.
  • Linear LED replacement lamps must be DLC listed and replace fluorescent lamps one for one. The form accepts UL Type A plug-and-play lamps, Type B lamps with an internal driver connected to line voltage, and Type C lamps with an external driver.
  • A reduction in the number of fixtures uses the custom route. A lighting redesign requires a photometric layout showing the planned lighting levels and uses that route too. Projects falling below the recommended Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) light levels may be denied a rebate.
  • Automatic controls must be permanently installed. The control schedule covers both new construction and retrofits. A project can receive either fixture rebates or lamp rebates, not both.

MVEC can inspect installations at random and does not guarantee a particular level of energy or cost savings.
