Buried Treasure rebate
Get $200 per ton, up to $1,000 per home, towards a qualifying open-well ground-source heat pump if you are a Palmetto Electric Cooperative member.
Denne finansieringsmulighed er i øjeblikket beskrevet på engelsk.
Buried Treasure helps with buying and installing a ground-source heat pump in a new or existing home. This entry covers open-well systems: water travels from a supply well through the heat pump and returns to the same aquifer after transferring heat.
The rebate is $200 per ton of heat-pump capacity, up to $1,000 per home. Palmetto Electric sends you a rebate check after installation and its final inspection.
Eligibility
You must be a Palmetto Electric Cooperative member. Its service area covers southern Beaufort, Hampton and Jasper counties in South Carolina. Local restrictions can affect whether an open-well system can be installed at your home.
- Your installer must be a licensed South Carolina mechanical contractor. Installation must meet state and local codes, ordinances and Palmetto Electric’s recommendations and installation requirements.
- System size must be determined using an ACCA Manual J load calculation to calculate the home’s heating and cooling requirements. Auxiliary or backup electric resistance heaters are not allowed.
- Before any drilling or excavation, contact the guidelines’ “Dial Before You Dig” service to locate underground utilities.
- The heat exchanger that transfers heat between water and refrigerant must be made of cupro-nickel metal. Groundwater is required unless another water source can be proven to maintain temperature and quality as constant as groundwater. The contractor must meet drilling codes and ensure the well supplies enough water for the installation.
- Supply and return wells must be at least 100 feet apart and comply with D.H.E.C. regulations. A return well is required and must have the same diameter and depth as the supply well.
- Pipework must allow periodic cleaning of the water-to-refrigerant heat exchanger. Pressure/temperature test ports, such as Pete’s Plugs or an equivalent, must be fitted to both water-in and water-out connections at the heat pump.
