Community Climate and Nature Fund
Grants of up to £10,000 for community organisations, councils and schools delivering projects that cut emissions or adapt to climate change in Warwick District.
Denne finansieringsmulighed er i øjeblikket beskrevet på engelsk.
Fund community projects such as walking and cycling activities, climate education, flood-defence improvements, outdoor shading or community adaptation programmes. This listing covers projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions or help people cope with climate change.
The grant can cover all eligible project costs, with no required contribution from you. If it funds part of a larger project, you must show that the rest of the funding is secured before the council releases its grant. Up to 10% of the grant can cover overheads: shared costs such as HR, IT support or office rent needed to deliver the project. Direct costs can include staff salaries, venue hire, equipment, IT subscriptions and marketing.
Building works and purchases or upgrades of assets that could be supported by the council’s RUCIS scheme for building works and assets are limited to £1,000. This includes energy-efficiency measures, renewable-energy installations and public EV chargepoints. Building works over £1,000 are excluded. If you qualify for the Workplace Charging Scheme, this fund can pay only installation costs left uncovered by that scheme.
Up to £2,500 is paid after you sign the grant agreement. The balance is paid on project completion or to a schedule agreed with Warwick District Council. During delivery you must submit progress reports, then complete an evaluation of environmental impacts. The council may require a case study and will tell you at award if it does.
Keep full project records during the project and for seven years afterwards, and provide records and evidence of spending when requested. At project end you must provide evidence of all spending and compliant procurement procedures. Return money unspent by the project end date unless you gave advance notice of the underspend and agreed a plan for how and when it will be spent.
Eligibility
- You must be a registered charity, Community Interest Company, community benefit society, constituted not-for-profit group, town or parish council, or school. Individuals, for-profit organisations and political parties cannot apply. Religious organisations cannot use funding for religious activities or promotion.
- The route covered here is for organisations with no award from this fund in the preceding 12 months and none in the current financial year. You can submit bids for different projects, but their combined value in one funding window must not exceed £10,000.
- Deliver the project within Warwick District Council’s area. It must not have started or been completed, and grant spending must not extend beyond 12 months.
- You need an equalities policy. You also need a safeguarding policy if the project is expected to bring staff or volunteers into contact with children or vulnerable adults. If you lack a required policy, email sustainability@warwickdc.gov.uk before applying; the council can help you write one.
- Hold the grant in a UK bank or building-society account in your organisation’s legal name, managed by at least two unrelated authorised people. Financial controls must prevent one person, or related people, from having sole responsibility for a transaction from authorisation through review and completion. Follow the council’s financial-governance guidance and provide evidence of your ability to manage public funds.
- The fund excludes core running costs beyond the overhead allowance, thermal-imaging cameras, home-energy advice services, and school activities that are curriculum or statutory requirements. School activities must be extracurricular. Schools cannot use it to pay for an Eco-Schools plaque.
