Climate measures grant: green roofs

Gemeente ZandhovenFlandern

A grant for owners, authorised users and associations installing a voluntary sedum or nature roof on a property in Zandhoven.

Denne finansieringsmulighed er i øjeblikket beskrevet på engelsk.

The municipality reimburses €15 per m² for a sedum roof and €30 per m² for a nature roof, covering at most 65 m² per application. Payment cannot exceed the actual roof costs. Only one green-roof application is allowed per address. VAT counts only where you cannot deduct it.

A sedum roof has low-growing succulents, drought-loving herbs, grasses and perennials. A nature roof has species-rich planting of different heights, such as trees, shrubs, herbs, grasses and perennials, preferably native species.

A sedum roof has a growing layer at least 60 mm deep that stores at least 25 litres of water per m². A nature roof needs at least 80 mm and 35 litres per m². The grant covers the planted roof, excluding paths and terraces.

The municipality pays into your bank account within its approved annual budget. Applications are processed in receipt order; claims that cannot be funded because the year's credits are exhausted automatically carry over to the next budget year in chronological order.

Eligibility

  • You must be entitled to carry out the work: the owner; a user, tenant or holder of a property right with the owner's consent; an association of co-owners; or a municipal association with its seat and activities in Zandhoven.
  • The property must be in Zandhoven. Buildings, structures and the works must have the required permissions. Work required by building rules or another legal obligation is excluded, including compulsory green roofs. Each measure can receive a grant only once per dwelling, building or structure.
  • The roof must cover at least 10 m². Above a heated space, the roof insulation must have a thermal resistance of at least 4.5 m²K/W: the required insulation performance, also called its Rd value.
  • The whole green roof must have root-resistant, drainage, growing-medium and vegetation layers. Green-roof tiles with these layers qualify. A separate root-resistant layer is unnecessary where the waterproofing is recent root-resistant EPDM rubber roofing.
  • The growing medium must be non-chemical and carry the FLL label certifying compliance with the FLL “Dachbegrünung” green-roof guidelines. A nature roof must not contain invasive non-native plants.
  • Keep the green roof in place and in good condition for at least ten years. Replace failed planting and repair damage and defects.

The municipality may inspect the work at any time. Non-compliance with the grant regulation or other applicable rules, or fraud, triggers recovery of the full grant. The municipality may also withhold or recover all or part of the award for unsupported or improper use, missing, late or incomplete supporting documents, breached conditions or obstructed inspections. Fraud or false statements can additionally lead to a three-year exclusion from grants under this regulation. The municipality does not accept responsibility for the work or resulting damage or accidents.
