Home energy efficiency grant

BoverketSchweden10.000–60.000 SEK

A grant to reduce energy use in your own home in Sweden.

Diese Finanzierungsmöglichkeit ist derzeit auf Englisch beschrieben.

You can get help with material costs when you add insulation, replace windows or improve heating and ventilation. Labour costs are not covered.

The grant covers up to 30% of eligible material costs, with a limit of SEK 60,000 per house. Grants below SEK 10,000 are not paid, so you need at least SEK 33,334 in eligible material costs.

A house can receive the grant on no more than two occasions. Any money it received under the previous rules counts towards the SEK 60,000 limit.

Eligibility

  • You must own the house and live there as your main home by the time you request payment. Holiday homes do not qualify.
  • The house must have a värdeår before 1990. This is the year used to assess the building for property tax, which is not always its construction year. It is usually shown in your property tax assessment from Skatteverket.
  • The house must not already be connected to district heating when you apply.
  • Work on previously unheated spaces is not covered.
  • Anyone you pay to carry out the work must have Swedish F-tax approval or the equivalent certificate from their home country.

Energy-labelled products must meet one of the two highest energy classes in significant use for that type of product. This does not automatically mean A or B. The assessment uses EPREL, the EU product database. Check the product requirements in Boverket's guidance before choosing materials.

Download the application form from Boverket and send it to the county administrative board, Länsstyrelsen, where your house is located. That board decides your application. If the work is finished and you can report the costs, there is a combined application and payment-request form.

Your application must arrive within six months of installation work starting. For work started between 17 October 2025 and 31 August 2026, the deadline is instead 28 February 2027. Materials must not have been ordered before 17 October 2025. Regardless of when work starts, your application must arrive by 1 June 2030.
