Wheelchair accessible zero-emission vehicle grant
Private buyers and businesses can receive a purchase discount of up to £2,500 on a new, qualifying zero-emission wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Diese Finanzierungsmöglichkeit ist derzeit auf Englisch beschrieben.
The seller deducts 35% of the eligible purchase price, up to £2,500, when you buy the vehicle. You do not make a separate grant application.
The grant calculation uses the price you actually pay after dealer or manufacturer discounts. It includes VAT, number plates and vehicle excise duty where applicable, but excludes optional extras, delivery charges and the first registration fee. This calculation is separate from the recommended retail price used to test the £50,000 eligibility cap.
Eligibility
- The vehicle must be new and converted for wheelchair access before its first registration. Converting an already registered vehicle does not qualify.
- It must be converted from a passenger vehicle (category M1), produce no tailpipe CO2 emissions and travel at least 112 km (70 miles) without emissions.
- The base vehicle’s recommended retail price must be below £50,000. The detailed eligibility rules include VAT, battery cost, mandatory extras such as delivery and administration charges, and options affecting battery capacity, drivetrain configuration or maximum power. They exclude the wheelchair conversion and other disability modifications, options that do not affect those features, emergency-service modifications, warranty, insurance and service packages, the first registration fee and first licence cost. Dealer discounts do not reduce this price for the cap test.
- Only approved base vehicles and qualifying variants or trims count. The current list includes Citroen e-Berlingo; Citroen e-Spacetourer Business M and Business XL; Ford E-Tourneo Courier; Kia PV5 Passenger 5-seat; Peugeot e-Rifter; and Vauxhall Vivaro-e Life - Combi.
- Each end customer can receive grants for up to 20 orders per financial year, from 1 April to 31 March. Converters that have reached their limit may be allocated additional orders if they can show a valid end customer for each order. These exceptions are considered individually and are not guaranteed.
- Private buyers and businesses must register the vehicle to a UK address. It must be registered and licensed for UK roads, and the customer must pay UK VAT. Personal-export, new-means-of-transport and direct-export registrations are excluded. British armed forces members abroad may use a BFPO postcode; British diplomats abroad and foreign diplomats in the UK remain eligible under the scheme’s exceptions.

- There are 200 grants available each financial year, from 1 April to 31 March; the seller must check availability before applying.[^c10][^c24]
Choose an approved vehicle with your dealership or manufacturer. The seller must check the remaining grant allocation before applying: the number of grants is limited, and the grant is not guaranteed until the vehicle is validated through the portal.
The dealer or manufacturer handles the claim and passes the discount to you at the point of sale. The dealer must normally save the order on the portal before vehicle registration; saving the order and registering the vehicle on the same day is not allowed. Exceptional retrospective claims are discretionary and cannot be older than three months.
The dealer works with the converter to supply proof of the completed conversion: a vehicle approval certificate or certificate of conformity showing wheelchair accessibility, plus photographs showing the registration plate, vehicle identification number and conversion. The current temporary completion rule requires registration and delivery within 12 months of the portal order, with the order marked completed, awaiting payment or awaiting audit.
