Depot Charging Scheme
Grants for UK businesses and public authorities installing depot chargers for battery-electric vans, heavy goods vehicles and coaches.

The scheme helps fleet operators install charging infrastructure at their depots. In the closed first round, the grant covered 70% of charge point and associated construction costs, up to £1 million across all sites. Applicants cover the remaining costs. Each organisation could submit one application, with no limit on the number of sites. First-round applications were assessed on a first-come-first-served basis.
Eligibility
The first round supported businesses and public authorities with the following requirements:
- Your organisation must be registered and operate in the UK. Both your organisation and its vehicle fleet must have operated in the UK for at least one year at the time of application. The Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey are excluded.
- You must own or lease at least one UK depot, and use the funding only in the UK.
- Your fleet must include at least one battery-electric van, heavy goods vehicle or coach, either already or in future. Your application must quantify how this affects your charging needs.
- A senior leader in your organisation must have approved the proposal when you apply. You must agree to ongoing monitoring and evaluation, including site audits or visits.
- You must agree not to apply for or obtain similar government funding for any part of the funded activities. Commercial vehicles must be the primary users of the infrastructure.
- If you share the infrastructure with other fleet operators, prices must be based on recovering costs for at least three years after the grant is awarded.
- You must confirm acceptance of the Grant Funding Agreement’s terms and conditions as part of your application. Only expenditure after that agreement is signed is eligible. First-round installations must be completed by 31 March 2027.
