Investment for startups making energy or industry cleaner, or developing ways to address the impacts of climate change, with MCJ receiving a share of ownership in the company in return.

MCJ usually provides the second- or third-largest investment in a company's funding round, rather than the largest, and does not take a seat on the company's board. This lets MCJ invest alongside another main investor without taking a board role.
Eligibility
Your startup should be making energy or industry cleaner, or developing a solution to the impacts of climate change. It must both contribute to addressing climate change and offer the commercial returns expected from an investment.
MCJ first invests during the early funding rounds it calls Pre-Seed through Series A; it does not first join at Series B or a later round. For a very early company developing new climate science or technology, the core science must already be shown to work. MCJ may consider such a company at Series A, after that scientific question has been resolved and the work has moved to building and delivering the technology at a larger scale.
