Household energy-efficiency rebates

Midwest Energy & CommunicationsMichigan

Rebates for new energy-efficient household appliances bought by MEC residential electric members in its Michigan service territory.

Diese Finanzierungsmöglichkeit ist derzeit auf Englisch beschrieben.

Buy eligible appliances for your home and claim a rebate from Midwest Energy & Communications (MEC). The retained appliance options are:

Appliance Rebate per unit Quantity limit
ENERGY STAR portable room dehumidifier $25 4
ENERGY STAR room air conditioner $30 4 per installation address
ENERGY STAR room air purifier $25 4
ENERGY STAR clothes washer $25 2
ENERGY STAR standard electric clothes dryer $25 2
ENERGY STAR heat-pump clothes dryer $50 2
ENERGY STAR refrigerator, excluding compact models $25 2
ENERGY STAR freezer $25 2
Nonportable induction range, stove or cooktop with at least three burners; gas equipment excluded $10 2

These amounts and limits apply to the listed measures. Heat-pump dryers may be vented or ventless.

Payment cannot exceed 75% of project cost. If project cost is below the standard incentive, MEC pays 75% of that cost. There is one incentive per eligible measure or unit, subject to its listed limit. Funds are limited and allocated first come, first served; payment depends on funds remaining when MEC approves the application. Incentive levels can change or be cancelled without prior notice and are valid through December 31, 2026 unless revised.

Rebates of $100 or less are credited to your account. Completed claims are usually paid by mail or account credit within four to six weeks; missing information can delay payment. You bear any tax liability resulting from the incentive.

Eligibility

  • You must be a residential MEC member with an active electric account. Commercial properties do not qualify. Install the equipment in MEC's Michigan service territory; customers in Indiana or Ohio and customers without MEC electric service are excluded.

Complete MEC's online appliance rebate application, entering your member/account details, service address, manufacturer, model, dates and quantities. Upload all paid itemized receipts or invoices showing equipment type, make, model, price, serial numbers and purchase date, with evidence of the equipment qualifications and installation. Complete the form truthfully, sign electronically and retain copies of your application and supporting documents.

MEC can verify sales, request missing information and inspect the equipment, including a post-installation quality check. If your information is false, it may charge you the full rebate plus interest.

The terms permit MEC to hold your account and energy-savings information confidentially in its database and use aggregated information in reports. You release MEC and its related parties from claims connected with the application, incentives or work, and agree to defend and cover them against third-party claims arising from these matters. MEC does not guarantee energy savings, equipment or contractor work; its inspection provides no warranty.
