Electric-car leasing for individuals

AS SEB PankEstland

Finance a new or used electric car through leasing, with a published interest margin of 1.45% per year plus Euribor.

Diese Finanzierungsmöglichkeit ist derzeit auf Englisch beschrieben.

SEB leasing pays the seller, and you pay for the car over the lease term. With a financial lease, once all payments are made and any outstanding claims against the car are cleared, SEB sends the termination document you need to register the car in your name and become its owner. If the agreement leaves part of the price unpaid until the end (the residual value), you pay that amount with the final payment; you can apply to extend the term to pay it in instalments. An operating lease lets you use the car and return it afterwards. Operating leases are offered primarily for cars sold by SEB partners, and the returned car must be in proper condition apart from normal wear and tear. If your operating lease includes a redemption obligation—a commitment by a repurchaser to buy the car—you must present the car to that repurchaser for inspection before the contract expires.

The lease term can be up to seven years, with a down payment starting from 10%. The interest rate combines the fixed 1.45% margin with Euribor, a reference rate that changes every six months, so your interest rate can change. When Euribor is negative, interest equals the margin. The contract fee starts at 1% of the car’s acquisition cost, with a minimum of €225. Insurance and other applicable charges add to the cost.

Eligibility

  • You must be an adult Estonian citizen or hold a long-term residence permit. You need a permanent job with at least six months of employment and regular monthly pay.
  • Your income must cover existing credit obligations and daily living costs. Total monthly credit payments, including the proposed lease, must stay within a limit of 30–50% of net income; SEB sets the exact limit according to your income and dependants.
  • You can apply with your spouse or partner as a surety, meaning they guarantee the lease obligations. SEB then considers both people’s income and obligations.
  • This entry covers electric cars. The financed amount must exceed €5,000. The car must be less than 16 years old when the lease ends and have fewer than 250,000 km at purchase.
  • If the seller is not a SEB partner, you need a valuation report from a SEB partner. The car must be registered with the Estonian Transport Administration before the lease contract is concluded.
  • Maintain own-damage insurance, also called casco, throughout the lease. You must also arrange motor third-party liability insurance. The car must be insured for at least its market value.
