Crossmore Community Fund

Community Foundation IrelandIrland1000–5000 EURgeschlossen

Grants of €1,000–€5,000 for local non-profit and voluntary organisations’ energy-efficiency or renewable-energy projects near Crossmore wind farm in West Clare.

Diese Finanzierungsmöglichkeit ist derzeit auf Englisch beschrieben.

Community Foundation Ireland administers this Energia fund for communities neighbouring Crossmore wind farm. Renewable energy and environmental sustainability receive extra weight in the 2026 assessment. Energy-efficiency and renewable-energy projects are among the supported activities.

You can request €1,000–€5,000, but no more than 50% of your organisation’s previous-year income. The grant supports a project or activity, including a contribution to existing activity or a new project or purchase. It does not provide general core funding, though up to 30% of the grant may cover organisational costs that sustain delivery of the project.

Awards are planned for December 2026, with work beginning in December 2026 or January 2027. Complete the work within 12 months, submit reports after six and 12 months, and be willing to share the project’s story with Energia’s media team.

This is a competitive round. Assessment considers eligibility and priority fit, evidence of need, organisational and financial capacity, a clear budget and realistic delivery plan, measurable lasting community benefit, and the spread of communities and beneficiary groups supported. Proposals reaching an under-represented group may be elevated.

Eligibility

  • Your organisation must be non-profit, voluntary or a social enterprise, have charitable aims and a written constitution, be at least one year old, and have an organisational bank account and up-to-date governance information.
  • The project must take place within 8 km of the centre of Crossmore wind farm, measured as the crow flies. The catchment covers Cranny/Coolmeen, Kilmurry McMahon and Kilmihil. Projects within 5 km may receive priority when applications compete. Only one application per organisation is accepted.
  • Statutory bodies, profit-making enterprises, individuals, animal-welfare groups, and projects advancing religion or politics cannot apply. Funding cannot replace existing statutory funding or pay for work already done or happening before the award.
  • Sports clubs cannot receive funding for a sporting purpose alone. They may apply for projects with wider sustainability or community benefit, including energy efficiency and renewable energy. If unsure about a sports project’s eligibility, contact the grants team before applying.
  • For capital costs such as equipment or refurbishment, include at least one quote. For a capital project, demonstrate ownership of the land or space, or written permission to use it. Proof, including planning permission and other formal approvals where relevant, is required before an award, without exceptions.

For organisations with annual income below €100,000, the programme requires a constitution or memorandum and articles showing charitable aims, non-profit status and a winding-up clause, signed by two committee members; a committee list with first-appointment dates; a bank-statement header showing account name, BIC and IBAN dated within six months; and the latest annual accounts signed by two committee members, or a signed profit-and-loss account. Larger organisations with income above €100,000 must also provide two trustees’ identity documents, one trustee’s proof of address, incorporation certificate if a company, and the last two years’ financial accounts signed by directors and, where applicable, auditors.

Also prepare the governance uploads in the linked Application Help Guide: the governing document; identity evidence for two trustees or committee members and an address document for one; financial accounts or income-and-expenditure statements for both the most recent and previous financial years; bank header; incorporation certificate if a company; and tax clearance certificate. The latest financial statements must be signed by two trustees. At annual income of €100,000 or more, accounts must be audited and also signed by the auditors. Submit these uploads before starting the application.

If recruiting a new employee, confirm an up-to-date Equal Opportunities Policy complying with the Employment Equality Acts 1998–2015 and Equal Status Acts 2000–2018. If working directly with children, confirm a safeguarding statement or policy reviewed annually, following regulator and statutory-body best practice, and compliance with Children First guidance (2017) and the Children First Act 2015; provide the current policy if requested. For direct work with vulnerable adults, the form likewise asks for an annually reviewed safeguarding policy following regulator, statutory-body and Safeguarding Ireland best practice, and a confirmation referring to the proposed Adult Safeguarding Bill 2017; provide the policy if requested.

  • Correct governance documents are due by the same 5pm Irish-time deadline.
  • Registration approval precedes application access; registration and application may each take a few days.

Apply through Community Foundation Ireland’s grants portal. The application and correct governance documents must be submitted by 16 October 2026 at 5pm Irish time; an application without the correct governance documents by that deadline will not be considered.

Allow time for registration approval before you can apply. First-time applicants can select “Register Here”, search for their organisation and add it if absent, or register their contact details against an existing organisation. You can access funding opportunities once the account is approved. The guide says approval may take 24 hours; the fund page warns that registration and application may each take a few days. The remaining time before the deadline may therefore be insufficient to complete both processes.

Complete every required tab in your user and organisation profiles, upload the governance documents and click Submit. Then choose the Crossmore grant round from the available Funding Opportunities and click Apply Now. Complete all application tabs, explain the need, proposed work, beneficiaries and impact, give a clear budget, show how any funding gap will be covered and how your organisation can manage the grant. Confirm that the information is true, that your group has authorised you to act and that required documents are attached. Email and postal applications are not accepted.

For application or governance-document support, contact info@foundation.ie or 01 874 7354, with “Energia Crossmore Community Fund” in the email subject. The grants team may not respond immediately.
