Climate protection grant
Grants for household solar panels, fossil-heating replacement and rainwater storage at residential properties in Filderstadt.
Αυτή η ευκαιρία είναι προς το παρόν διαθέσιμη στα Αγγλικά.
The Klimaschutz-Förderprogramm supports improvements completed in 2026 or 2027. Solar installations and heating systems must also enter operation in those years.
- New plug-in balcony solar: EUR 100 once per household, regardless of the number of modules. Total module power must be no more than 2 kW and inverter power no more than 800 VA (the inverter's electrical output rating).
- Rooftop solar covering all suitable roof areas: EUR 150 per kWp, up to EUR 1,500. A kWp is one kilowatt of rated solar-panel output under standard test conditions.
- Rooftop solar on a partly or wholly rented residential building: EUR 150 per kWp, up to EUR 3,000, if at least one tenant receives electricity generated by the system.
- A new heat pump or comparable climate-friendly heating system replacing oil, coal or gas heating: EUR 550 per eligible system. Other public grants may be combined with this option only if total public support stays at or below 60% of investment costs.
- New permanently installed rainwater tanks for irrigation: EUR 150 per cubic metre of capacity, up to EUR 600.
Payments cannot exceed your actual expenditure. Funding is discretionary and complete applications are considered in order of receipt, subject to the municipal budget. The city may restrict maximum support per applicant, household or owners' association if it suspects misuse.
Eligibility
Private individuals and legal entities under private law can apply. Owners, co-owners, holders of hereditary building rights (the right to build on another person's land) and property managers qualify for solar and heating grants. Tenants can also apply for balcony solar and rainwater storage; owners' associations and their authorized representatives can apply for rainwater storage.
- Projects must be in Filderstadt. Balcony solar must supply a household electricity circuit; systems on weekend or holiday plots are excluded. Rooftop-solar buildings must be used mainly for housing, and heating systems must be in residential buildings.
- Both rooftop-solar options require new installations registered with the Federal Network Agency. For maximum roof coverage, a specialist firm must confirm that all suitable roof areas are covered. Excluded areas include roofs facing north of northwest or northeast, shaded roofs or roof sections, and areas occupied by solar-thermal collectors, roof windows, required clearances or roof-mounted lamp fittings.
- If compulsory solar installation applies to a new building or major roof renovation, only capacity beyond the compulsory minimum is eligible under either rooftop option, and you must document that minimum. Usually it means panels covering 60% of suitable roof area, or 75% of the remaining suitable area when necessary uses such as a roof terrace reduce it. A compulsory green roof halves that area requirement; a voluntary green roof does not. For new residential buildings or major roof renovations, the alternative minimum is 0.06 kWp per square metre of building footprint, including roof overhangs.
- Rainwater tanks must be at single-family or multi-family residential properties and their overflow must drain to the sewer or an infiltration area. Only one application is allowed per property. Where a new building requires a retention tank, only capacity beyond the mandatory minimum of 30 litres per square metre of built-over area qualifies.
- Except for the heating grant, you must not have applied for or received federal or Baden-Württemberg grant funding for the same project, and must not apply for other public support for it later. The city funds the same measure only once.
You must not resell funded equipment for 36 months from application. Keep supporting records for five years; the city may inspect the site and check eligibility with relevant authorities. Non-compliant work or inaccurate application information can lead to cancellation and repayment with interest under the applicable law. Inaccurate information can also make you liable for application-processing and inspection costs.

- Apply only after complete implementation in 2026 or 2027; solar and heating installations must enter operation in those years.
- Complete applications are considered in receipt order within the available budget.
Apply after completing the work. Open the city's official application page and choose “Förderantrag Klimaschutz” to enter Service-BW. Postal or email applications are possible in exceptional cases; the programme contacts are Silke Strobel (sstrobel@filderstadt.de, +49 711 7003 1213) and Jonas Schaube (jschaube@filderstadt.de, +49 711 7003 1220). Your complete application must reach the city by 15 December 2027.
Submit invoices, proof of payment and photographs of the installed equipment. Balcony solar also needs product-safety evidence, such as CE information for both modules and inverter, and heritage permission where applicable. Rooftop solar needs register evidence, plus the specialist's maximum-coverage confirmation or a tenant's written confirmation that they receive generated electricity, as appropriate; document the compulsory minimum where applicable. Heating applications need the installer's declaration and photographs of the old system before removal and the new system after installation. Rainwater applications must document any compulsory retention minimum.
Complete applications are processed in order of receipt. If applications exceed available funds, the city informs applicants; applications move forward in receipt order if funds become available again. There is no entitlement to a payment.
