Domestic Charge Point Grant

The standard route covers residents of rural or remote Scotland, including islands, with annual household income below £50,000. Use the official page's postcode checker: the qualifying Scottish Government rural-location categories are 5, 6, 7 and 8. Count income from all adults before tax or deductions, including salaries, pensions, benefits, savings and investments.

Own, lease or be about to acquire an EV on the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) eligible-vehicle list. This can include a company vehicle. Install at the main home where you currently live, not a holiday home, second home or commercial property. The installer must be eligible with both Energy Saving Trust and OZEV and the charger model must be on OZEV's authorised list.

Apply yourself, with your name and current address matching the supporting identity, vehicle and charger documents. A partner, family member or installer cannot apply for you. A third party can communicate with Energy Saving Trust only after you provide written permission; that does not permit them to make the application. Reimbursement must go to an account in your own name, not a third-party or business account.

Energy Saving Trust may consider applications outside the standard criteria individually at its discretion. This is not an entitlement to an exception. If you breach eligibility after payment, the grant must be repaid.

If you have recently moved, vehicle owners must wait for an updated registration document showing the new address before applying. Leaseholders instead provide a letter from the leasing company confirming the lease has transferred to the new address. For a leased company vehicle, the employer’s annex letter must confirm the new address.

Apply through Energy Saving Trust's online application link on the official grant page. Provide identity and address evidence, evidence that you own or lease the EV or have paid a deposit, household-income evidence and a current, detailed installer quote on company letterhead. A driving licence is accepted; without one, provide a current passport and a bank statement or utility bill from the last three months. The main income contributor's payslip or pension record is required, and other contributors' evidence may be requested. Complete the linked third-party identity check after submission.

For a company vehicle, obtain the required annex letter confirming its details and lease from your employer. For the general vehicle-evidence route, accepted documents include your registration document, paid invoice, deposit-backed order, lease agreement or contract hire schedule. If you obtain the EV through your employer’s salary-sacrifice scheme, you must provide the signed contract hire schedule—the vehicle hire document identifying its make and model and both you and your employer.

If offered funding, submit the acceptance form within 14 days or by 11 February 2027, whichever comes first. Only then arrange installation. Offers normally last three months unless stated otherwise. Finish installation and claim by your offer's expiry date or 3 March 2027, whichever comes first. Notify Energy Saving Trust of delays; extensions are individually assessed and not guaranteed. Funding is first come, first served and may run out early; an application alone does not secure an award.

After installation, upload the paid invoice and Electrical Installation Certificate to the customer portal named in your offer. The certificate records your name, address and completion date, which must be after the offer; the invoice must have a zero balance. Supply matching bank details for reimbursement. If you change installers, get the new quote approved before work starts.
