Water conservation rebate
A rebate of 40% of the cost, up to CAD 50, for Cranbrook residential property owners installing a rain barrel or a programmable above-ground sprinkler timer.
Αυτή η ευκαιρία είναι προς το παρόν διαθέσιμη στα Αγγλικά.
Choose one rain barrel or one programmable above-ground sprinkler timer for your household. The City of Cranbrook reimburses 40% of its total cost, up to CAD 50. Rebates are issued first come, first served while funds remain; the programme may change or end without notice.
A rain barrel collects water from roofs for outdoor irrigation. It provides a water source during drought or restrictions, reduces pressure on the reservoir when water supply is low and demand is high, and reduces stormwater runoff and erosion. A programmable timer connects to your outdoor tap and controls water flowing to your hose, so you can schedule watering around the City’s restriction stages.
Eligibility
- You must own an existing residential building within Cranbrook’s municipal boundaries. The building must have a valid occupancy permit, property taxes in good standing and a connection to the City’s water system.
- Buy the rain barrel or programmable above-ground sprinkler timer on or after 1 January 2026 and install it before claiming. Only one of these units per household can receive a rebate.
- If you previously received a rain-barrel rebate, you cannot receive another for a barrel, but you may claim for a programmable sprinkler timer. If you previously received a sprinkler-timer rebate, you cannot receive another for a timer.
- Remove an above-ground sprinkler timer from your outdoor tap before winter. Do not drink rain-barrel water or use it for cooking; it is untreated.
- You must allow a City representative to inspect the installation if needed to check programme requirements. This inspection does not check that the equipment is installed properly, and the City is not responsible for its functioning.
