Heating and cooling efficiency rebates
Members can receive $300 towards an ENERGY STAR geothermal system or a new heat pump added to a fossil-fuel furnace.

The geothermal rebate helps pay for a ground-source system that uses an underground pipe loop for heating, cooling and hot water. The dual-fuel rebate pays $300 for a new add-on heat pump used with an existing or new fossil-fuel furnace.
Eligibility
- You must be a Guernsey-Muskingum Electric Cooperative member receiving its electricity service. The installation must be served by the cooperative, whose network serves parts of Guernsey, Muskingum, Tuscarawas, Morgan, Noble, Harrison, Coshocton, Licking and Perry counties in Ohio.
- For the geothermal rebate, the system must be ENERGY STAR rated. Radio-controlled switches are required on your electric water heater and geothermal unit.
- For the dual-fuel rebate, install a new add-on heat pump with your existing or new fossil-fuel furnace. Radio-controlled switches are required on your electric water heater and outdoor heat pump unit.
- The cooperative installs these switches at no cost. They let it temporarily interrupt electricity to the connected equipment: one to three times in winter or an average of ten times in summer, for seven minutes to several hours each time. Interruptions are likely on summer days at 90°F or above and winter days at 5°F or below.
