Residential insulation rebate
Rebates help residential electricity customers insulate qualifying attics and ceilings in homes served by Wallingford Electric Division.
Αυτή η ευκαιρία είναι προς το παρόν διαθέσιμη στα Αγγλικά.
Get up to $1.70 per square foot for qualifying attic insulation, or up to $1.00 per square foot for qualifying ceiling insulation above an unconditioned space. The application’s incentive table calls the second option “Floor”. Your total rebate cannot exceed the full cost of installing the insulation.
Funding is limited and available only while funds last. Incentives and efficiency requirements can change without notice, and WED does not guarantee funding or cover costs you incur if funding is reduced or eliminated.
WED may verify the purchase and inspect the insulation before paying and for up to one year after your application. You are responsible for any tax due because of the rebate.
As a condition of receiving the rebate, you transfer to WED any electricity-capacity payments, benefits or credits associated with your participation, including those from ISO New England’s Forward Capacity Market or successor markets. These associated payments belong to WED; you must provide any paperwork WED requests to record the transfer. WED also keeps any associated Class III renewable-energy or conservation credits.
Eligibility
- You must be a WED residential electricity-service customer, with the insulation installed at the Connecticut home identified in your application.
- Complete WED’s free HES home energy assessment and weatherization services before installing the insulation. The HES technician assesses the existing insulation to determine whether it qualifies.
- For an attic, the existing insulation must be rated R-19 or below, and the added insulation must raise the final level to at least R-38. These are the insulation levels the technician checks during the assessment.
- For a ceiling, the cavity must be uninsulated and separate a conditioned living space from an unconditioned space, such as a basement, garage or crawl space. The walls surrounding that unconditioned space must also be uninsulated. Install ceiling insulation rated at least R-19.
- Use a contractor licensed to work in Connecticut. They must install the insulation according to local building codes and the manufacturer’s instructions. Insulation required by building codes for a new home or addition is excluded.
