Air conditioning bill credits
Property-owning electricity members on residential, farm or small-commercial rates can receive bill credits for allowing control of their central air conditioning during peak demand.
Αυτή η ευκαιρία είναι προς το παρόν διαθέσιμη στα Αγγλικά.
Oconto Electric Cooperative (OEC) installs a radio-controlled device called a load management receiver. It lets the cooperative cycle your central air conditioning off and back on at 20–30 minute intervals during periods of high electricity demand. The cooperative says reducing peak demand shrinks its carbon footprint.
You receive a one-time $25 credit on your electricity bill for signing up. You can also receive an $8 bill credit for each consumption month of June, July, August and September in which you use at least 400 kWh. Qualifying in all four months gives $32 in seasonal credits.
The control device remains OEC’s property. Its protective seal must not be removed without OEC’s full knowledge. Notify OEC immediately if anyone breaks the seal for any reason, including service personnel. OEC may inspect the device periodically. Evidence of tampering immediately disqualifies you from the programme and available credits.
OEC may change the programme at any time or discontinue it. If the programme ends, monthly credits stop when OEC notifies you of its discontinuation.
Eligibility
- You must be an active OEC member in good standing and receive electricity on its standard residential, farm or small-commercial rate.
- You must own the property where the central air-conditioning unit is installed. The offer applies to OEC-served properties in its northeast Wisconsin service territory, covering Oconto, Marinette and small portions of Shawano and Brown counties.
- An OEC technician must be able to install the control device. If your existing air-conditioning installation prevents this, OEC will advise you. If it can be brought into OEC’s required specifications, OEC will tell you about associated charges.
