Green Heat Network Fund

Department for Energy Security and Net ZeroEngland, Walescloses 25 Sept 2026

Capital grants for public, private and third-sector organizations developing low-carbon heat networks in England and Wales.

The fund supports both pre-construction work and construction for new low-carbon heat networks, including networks that supply cooling. Its “commercialisation” stage covers work needed to move a developed project towards a final investment decision, such as contract negotiation, procurement, planning, utility connections and technical or financial support. It also supports retrofits and expansions of existing heat networks.

Funding awarded through the programme can be drawn down through the 2029–30 financial year.

Eligibility

Public, private and third-sector organizations in England and Wales can apply. Individuals, households and sole traders cannot apply.

Your project must prepare or build a new low-carbon heat network, or retrofit or expand an existing heat network. Preparation-only applications must explain how construction will be funded without this grant.
