Borrow CAD 3,500–50,000 to make energy-efficient upgrades to your home, including insulation, solar equipment and heat pumps.
NLCU lends you money for the upgrades, which you repay over a term of one to five years. There are no application fees. You can make extra payments at any time, in any amount and as often as you want, or repay early, without a penalty.
The advertised rate is NLCU’s prime lending rate plus one percentage point. That rate is based on a minimum CAD 3,500 loan with a five-year term and can change without notice.
Eligibility
You need to make energy-efficient upgrades to your home. Examples include insulation, solar equipment, geothermal energy, heat pumps or mini-splits, and heat recovery ventilation. The loan also covers oil or electric boiler/furnace conversions to propane, and ENERGY STAR® windows, doors, furnaces or appliances.
NLCU membership is open to Canadian residents. Members are customers and shareholders and must maintain CAD 100, representing 20 shares, in a share account. These shares are refundable when you cancel membership. Lending is subject to credit approval and NLCU’s normal credit guidelines.
