Energy Transition Fund
Investment for European startups and scaleups developing hardware or software that cuts emissions from power, transport and buildings.
The Energy Transition Fund provides capital to grow companies contributing to the energy transition. Move Energy becomes a part-owner of the businesses it invests in and takes an active role as a shareholder.
Its ideal initial investment is €1 million–€5 million. It can continue to support a portfolio company in subsequent financing rounds up to €10 million per company. These figures describe its preferred starting investment and capacity for later support.
Alongside capital, Move Energy offers connections in renewable energy and mobility and expertise in arranging financing, including debt financing for capital-intensive hardware businesses.
Eligibility
- Your company should make a tangible contribution towards net zero, with a focus on power, transport or buildings. Both hardware and software businesses are in scope.
- The fund invests throughout Europe, with a strong focus on the Netherlands.
- As a general rule, your company should have found initial product-market fit: its product has begun to meet demand in its market. The fund focuses on Series A rounds, where it supports further development of the product, sales channels and organisation. It also considers late Seed and Series B rounds, before or after that main stage.
- The fund selects companies that contribute, or have the potential to contribute, to avoiding, reducing or removing greenhouse-gas emissions.
- Move Energy assesses whether your company meets its good-governance standards. These cover preventing corruption and bribery, board-member independence, sound management, employee relations, staff remuneration and tax compliance. The investment team uses data from your company and may add information from other reliable sources.
- Portfolio companies take part in annual monitoring of greenhouse-gas emissions avoided, reduced or removed, used in discussions with the fund about progress.
