Green home loan
Borrow for solar panels, solar water heaters or rainwater harvesting at your home, with up to 100% financing of eligible purchase and installation costs.
The loan can pay for photovoltaic solar panels that generate electricity, solar water heaters and rainwater harvesting systems. Batteries may be included with the selected solar system and supplier quotation, and battery storage can also be financed separately.
MCB can finance up to 100% of eligible acquisition and installation costs, subject to eligibility and approval. You repay the money in monthly instalments over up to 10 or 15 years, as approved by MCB. After approval, you sign the loan contract and receive funds to complete the purchase.
Interest depends on the amount borrowed, the purpose, how much of the cost MCB finances and your existing facilities with the bank. Processing and other financing fees may apply according to the banking fee schedule.
Early repayment is available under the loan terms and prevailing schemes. The individual fee schedule exempts loans granted after 1 January 2014 from its early repayment fee; it also exempts loans under the Borrowers’ Protection Act and loans whose prepayment option fee was paid upfront. If a prepayment option fee applies, the schedule sets it at 0.75% of the facility amount; loans under the Borrowers’ Protection Act are exempt.
Eligibility
- Individuals and non-individual customers can apply if they meet MCB’s lending criteria. Existing MCB customers with a home loan can also apply, subject to affordability and credit assessment.
- Generally, you must have ownership or authorisation rights for the property where the installation will take place.
- A supplier quotation is required to establish the financing amount.
- Both grid-connected and off-grid solar can be financed, subject to technical feasibility, the quotation, applicable regulations and MCB’s approval criteria. For registration and grid connection, CEB requires a hybrid solar system combining panels with battery storage from 15 April 2026. This connection condition does not make grid connection a requirement for off-grid finance.
- For vehicles, including green cars, MCB directs customers to its leasing product.

Provide identification and address documents, birth and wedding certificates, your last three payslips or MRA tax return or financial documents, a confirmation letter where applicable, and the supplier quotation. If you do not bank with MCB, provide at least the last 12 months of bank statements. Foreigners must provide an Equifax or equivalent credit report.
For a secured loan, complementary documents include the title deed, site and location plan or property identification number, identification documents for the property owners and, for an apartment, the building management body’s consent letter.
