Green mortgage
A mortgage for buying an A- or B-rated home or improving the energy efficiency of a qualifying home.
You can finance a home purchase or energy improvements such as added insulation, energy-efficient windows and upgraded heating. The home must have energy rating A or B.
This is borrowed money: you repay the loan principal and pay interest and fees. Mortgage repayments are made monthly.
The published green tariff applies to borrowing within 75% of the property valuation. Nominal interest starts at 5.55%, effective interest at 5.77%, the payment-period fee is NOK 65 and the arrangement fee starts at NOK 4,000. Effective interest includes the costs reflected in the bank’s example: NOK 2 million over 25 years costs NOK 1,725,962, giving NOK 3,725,962 to repay in total. These are starting rates and an example, rather than a guaranteed personal offer.
The tariff also lists NOK 1,000 for new mortgage security or NOK 500 when existing mortgage security is reused.
Eligibility
- You must own or be buying a home with energy rating A or B. For a purchase, check the sales prospectus; the bank also directs homeowners to energimerking.no to find their rating.
- Energy renovations can be financed, but the listed measures do not remove the A/B rating requirement.
- The green tariff is for borrowing within 75% of the property valuation. The bank assesses your ability to repay using your income, other debts and family circumstances.
