Energy efficiency rebates
WREA residential and small commercial members can claim rebates towards qualifying new air-source heat pumps.
Ducted and ductless air-source heat pumps qualify for the base-tier rebate: $500 for systems of up to 1.5 tons (18,000 BTUs), or $1,500 for larger systems. Your rebate is the lower of that amount and 50% of the equipment cost. A discounted purchase can reduce the rebate.
The rebates support more efficient electric equipment and lower carbon emissions. They reimburse completed purchases or installed projects, with paid receipts required.
Eligibility
- The equipment must be purchased by a White River Electric Association (WREA) member for a WREA member. This heat-pump route covers residential and small commercial consumers. The application requires a WREA account number.
- Buy new equipment: used, refurbished and free products do not qualify. Rebates are limited to one per account per year unless otherwise noted.
- Your ducted or ductless heat pump must meet ENERGY STAR version 6.1 and have a Heating Seasonal Performance Factor 2 (HSPF2) of at least 7.8, the required seasonal heating-efficiency rating. Provide its Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) certification and/or number to identify the certified equipment.

Complete WREA’s heat-pump rebate application with your payee, address, WREA account and installation details, then sign it as a WREA member. Include the manufacturer’s specification sheet, AHRI certification and/or number, and an itemized invoice identifying the make and model. Your paid receipts must show the product details, associated labour costs, consumer name, date and proof of purchase/payment.
Submit the application and supporting materials to WREA at customerservice@wrea.org. WREA must receive and process the rebate within 90 days of purchase; submitting it by day 90 is not enough. WREA customer service is available at 970-878-8681.
