Building energy efficiency grant

Stadt WetzikonSuiza

A municipal top-up for owners insulating a building in Wetzikon after receiving Canton Zurich funding.

Esta oportunidad está disponible actualmente en inglés.

Insulate an existing building’s roof, external walls or floor against the ground to reduce energy use and CO₂ emissions. This entry covers insulation with a cantonal base grant of CHF 2,000 to below CHF 10,000, excluding the solar-panel supplement and building-envelope bonus.

The city pays a one-time grant of 20% of the qualifying cantonal contribution, excluding the photovoltaic supplement. Within the range covered here, that is CHF 400 to below CHF 2,000. The municipal insulation ceiling is CHF 10,000 per property over the framework-credit period. Only one measure per property can receive city support during that period; special circumstances can lead to an increase or reduction. There is no legal entitlement to an award.

The cantonal base rate is CHF 40 per square metre insulated, with payment capped at 50% of the relevant investment costs. Cantonal payments below CHF 2,000 are not made. Larger insulation grants and whole-building modernisation are outside the route covered here.

Eligibility

  • The property must be within the City of Wetzikon. The measure must meet current technical standards and have received Canton Zurich funding. The canton’s general and technical conditions at the time of your cantonal application also apply to the city award.
  • The building must be heated and its building permit must predate 2000, using the legally effective permit date plus the 30-day objection period. Windows, doors, parts adjoining unheated rooms, new extensions and additional storeys are excluded. Completely demolished and rebuilt external walls are excluded; roofs can qualify where the façade remains, and floors against the ground can qualify.
  • Buildings owned by cantons, the federal government or enterprises affiliated with the federal government are excluded.
  • Insulated parts must reach a U-value of at most 0.20 W/m²K; for walls or floors more than 2 metres below ground, at most 0.25 W/m²K applies. The U-value measures heat passing through the building part: it must improve by at least 0.07 W/m²K, and the part must not already meet the required value before the work. Protected parts may receive a relaxation up to 0.30 W/m²K if evidence shows the normal value cannot be achieved. This covers parts listed as nationally or regionally important in federal, cantonal or municipal inventories, or defined as protected by an authority.
  • Landlords must pass on the reduction in property costs produced by the grant. Only one active cantonal application per federal building identifier (EGID) and measure is permitted.
  • Declare third-party contributions in the city claim. Municipal support can be combined with the canton’s grant. The cantonal insulation grant cannot be combined with other programmes such as Stiftung KliK or Energie Zukunft Schweiz, or an ongoing federal emissions-reduction commitment exempting the building from the CO₂ levy.
  • The city may inspect the work. It must recover all or part of the grant if conditions are breached, information is false or incomplete, or money is used for a purpose other than that in the application.

How to apply

Estado

Condiciones de la convocatoria
  • Submit a complete city claim within 30 days of the date on the cantonal payout letter; submit canton completion documents within three months after finishing insulation.
  • Apply to the canton before installing insulation; complete and submit within two years after cantonal assurance.

First apply to Canton Zurich through the online Gebäudeprogramm portal linked from its funding page, before installing insulation. You may start after the automatic receipt confirmation, but that is not a binding award decision. From the cantonal assurance date, you have two years to complete the measure and submit completion through the portal. Provide plans, photos, quotations and before-and-after U-value calculations with the initial application; after the work, submit invoices, photos, account details and revised areas if the insulated area is smaller than approved.

Submit the cantonal completion form and all required documents within three months of finishing the insulation, even if other building work continues. Then send the city’s signed insulation claim to foerdergesuche-energie@wetzikon.ch within 30 days of the date on the canton’s payout letter. Attach that letter and its contribution attachment, the cantonal completion form, authority to act if applicable, and payment details; scan each attachment as a separate PDF.

The city accepts complete claims in the order received and pays after a positive check. It provides no advance assurance or reservation.
