Stationary solar battery grant
A one-off grant supported individuals and legal entities installing new batteries to store solar electricity in Vienna; applications are closed.
Esta oportunidad está disponible actualmente en inglés.
The retained 2025 offer covered new stationary lithium-ion or sodium-ion batteries for electricity from photovoltaic (PV) panels at single-family homes, multi-family homes or business buildings in Vienna. Eligible costs included the battery, load management, controls, meters, installation, planning, advice and expert assessments with necessary preparatory work and tests.
Support was €200 per kWh for up to 10 kWh of usable storage capacity, capped at 30% of eligible battery costs and at €2,000. For larger batteries, only the cost share corresponding to 10 kWh counted: the official example awards €1,800 for a 20 kWh battery costing €12,000, because 30% of its €6,000 eligible share is lower than €2,000. The contractual amount was a maximum; final payment followed completion and final accounting.
Eligibility
These terms concern applications submitted by 6 June 2025, before the 2025 budget was exhausted.
- Natural persons and legal entities could apply for installation in Vienna. Only one battery per PV installation and site could receive support.
- Extensions, self-built systems, prototypes, used batteries and systems without a grid connection were excluded.
- Before applying, applicants could not order the battery, make another irreversible investment commitment or begin construction. Previously commissioned, supplied or performed work was ineligible.
- The battery-cell manufacturer had to provide either a seven-year guarantee compensating the product’s residual value or a take-back obligation agreed with the customer.
- Combining this grant with battery-storage support from the Klima- und Energiefonds or OeMAG was prohibited.
- Implementation had to finish within 24 months of the funding commitment. Written grid-operator confirmation of the electricity-feed-in metering point had to be supplied before payment.

- Closed: the 2025 budget is exhausted. The official page retains terms for applications submitted by 6 June 2025; the nominal 31 December deadline did not keep intake open.[^c1]
No new applications can be submitted. Existing applicants should follow Kommunalkredit Public Consulting (KPC)’s grant contract and final-accounting instructions.
The historical application was online only and required an installer’s offer and photo identification. After KPC confirmed receipt, construction could begin at the applicant’s own risk. KPC assessed the application; Vienna approved the funding proposal and KPC issued the contract.
Sign and return the acceptance declaration with the final-accounting documents: the contract becomes valid after the signed declaration is submitted. Complete the project and submit invoices and the completed acceptance/final-accounting form by the date set in the contract. Observe its payment conditions, technical requirements and continuing information and record-keeping duties, which may be checked after payment.
