Energy funding programme

City of BadenSuiza

Grants help private applicants and businesses add solar thermal to buildings with combustion heating in Baden, Switzerland.

Esta oportunidad está disponible actualmente en inglés.

This entry covers solar thermal under the municipal energy funding programme: collectors produce renewable heat alongside a combustion heating system.

The municipal calculation is CHF 1,500 per installation plus CHF 1,000 per dwelling, capped at CHF 20,000 per property. If a third-party contribution from the canton, federal government or another source exists, only 50% of the municipal contribution is paid. The city therefore gives CHF 750 plus CHF 500 per dwelling as its example of a supplement to cantonal funding.

Eligibility

  • Private applicants and businesses can apply. The measure must be in the municipality of Baden, unless the city council recognizes its particular importance for implementing the municipal energy concept.
  • The building must have combustion heating. The thermal solar installation must have at least 4 m² of absorber area, the collector area that captures solar heat. For buildings with one to four dwellings, at least 4 m² per dwelling is required. From five dwellings onward, at least 1.5 m² per dwelling and at least 16 m² in total are required.
  • Design and construction must meet current technical standards. The measure must be uneconomic without this programme’s support and must go beyond legal or official requirements in force when you apply.
  • File the request and obtain a funding commitment before carrying out the work. The award does not replace required notifications or permits; solar-thermal installations must be notified and may also need a building permit.

How to apply

Condiciones de la convocatoria
  • Applications are assessed individually in order of receipt of complete requests, within available fund resources. There is no entitlement to a contribution.[^c3]

Apply to the City of Baden through its funding portal, submitting a complete request with the required attachments before work begins. Wait for the funding commitment before proceeding.

Complete the measure within two years of the funding commitment. An extension may be granted on a reasoned request. The city pays the applicant after written notification that the system has been commissioned, and may arrange an on-site inspection.

An award may require insulation for buildings with excessive heat demand, minimum energy-efficiency classes for equipment, or monitoring with reports and access for checking results. Contributions are recovered in full or in part for false statements, misuse or breaches of award conditions; recovered amounts carry interest at the cantonal tax-law default rate.
