Balcony solar grant
A €100 grant for a new plug-in solar system for households with their main residence in Westerkappeln.

The municipality supports small plug-in photovoltaic systems for household use. The grant is €100 per household for one system. The 2026 programme has a total budget of €3,000 and ends when that budget is used up, no later than 31 December 2026.
Applications can already be submitted. Payment follows approval of the 2026 municipal budget. Awards depend on available funds and the municipality’s discretionary decision; there is no entitlement to a grant.
Eligibility
- You must be an adult private individual with your main residence in Westerkappeln. This entry covers households with annual gross household income below €60,000, as declared on the application form.
- Buy a factory-new balcony solar system with a power rating of at least 600 watts. Used equipment is excluded.
- The purchase must be on or after 1 January 2026. Apply after you have bought and received the system. Only one system can be supported per applicant, with €100 per household.
The municipality may reclaim the grant if the system becomes permanently unusable and you do not replace it with an equivalent factory-new product, if it is used for another purpose, or if you sell it. Moving your main residence outside Westerkappeln before the end of the funding year triggers repayment. Report these circumstances immediately with suitable evidence. False information or forged documents that would have caused rejection can also lead to recovery. The municipality reserves the right to make spot checks on site.

After purchase and receipt, complete and sign the municipal application form. Include an original invoice (returned to you), or a PDF for an online invoice, naming the seller, buyer and exact product. Attach evidence of the system’s power, such as a dealer document or technical specification, and the household-income declaration. Provide the bank details for payment, confirm that your information is complete and truthful, and accept the programme conditions.

Applications are processed in arrival order while funds remain. If several applications arrive simultaneously for the remaining funds, allocation is by lottery. Once the annual budget is exhausted, applications and payments stop.
