Rainwater-retention grant

Municipality of De Fryske MarrenPaíses Bajoscierra 31 dic 2026

A grant for owners and tenants in De Fryske Marren to install rain barrels or rainwater collection and infiltration modules.

Esta oportunidad está disponible actualmente en inglés.

You can receive support for rainwater retention under Article 3c of the municipal green-and-blue measures scheme: connecting a rain barrel, rainwater collection module or infiltration module to hold rainfall on your property.

For individuals, the grant covers up to 50% of eligible costs, with a maximum of €500 per application. Residents of social housing can receive up to 90% of the purchase costs of a rain barrel, within the same €500 individual cap. Only costs directly connected with the measure and judged necessary by the municipality count.

Eligibility

You must own or rent an existing building or parcel in De Fryske Marren. A tenant needs written permission from the owner. The household route described here covers individuals, including social-housing tenants.

  • The same measure must not already have received a subsidy. The work must have taken place after the scheme opened; the current regulation took effect on 16 December 2025.
  • You choose and take responsibility for the product, contractor and installation. You must manage rainwater without harming neighbouring plots and intend to keep the measure in place for at least ten years.
  • Allow municipal spot checks and report rebuilding or alterations affecting disconnected paved surfaces. Immediately inform the municipality in writing if you cannot meet the grant conditions, or if relevant developments or changes affect compliance.

The municipality can refuse support where the budget, continuity, your own contribution or the expected results are inadequate, where the activity is already sufficiently provided for or has already received municipal subsidy, or following an adversely assessed spot check in the previous year. Commercial or profit-making activities can also be refused. VAT you can recover through tax is not eligible.

The work must principally benefit De Fryske Marren or its residents, and you must show that the grant is needed. The municipality may refuse an application that does not meet the scheme’s rules, conflicts with the law or public interest, or does not fit its policy that everyone should be able to participate in society.

Condiciones de la convocatoria
  • 2026 rainwater-retention claims: apply after completion. Annual budget €75,000; complete applications considered in receipt order, with a same-day lottery.

Install the rainwater-retention measure before applying. Article 3c is a claim after completion; the six-week advance-application rule for other measures does not apply to this route. Submit the application by 31 December of the subsidy year. For the current 2026 intake, the deadline is 31 December 2026, subject to funds remaining.

Apply using the municipality’s online form and log in with DigiD or eHerkenning. Prepare a project or activity description, its goals, a budget and funding plan showing other grants or reimbursements for the same work. Supply the invoice showing the amount and purchase date, the equipment’s technical specifications, photos before and after the work, any required environmental or monument permit, and written owner permission if you rent.

The annual budget is €75,000 in both 2026 and 2027. Applications are considered in the order they become complete; applications received on the same day are ranked by lottery. You can receive support once per measure each year, subject also to the rule against a previous subsidy for the same measure. The municipality decides within six weeks of receiving a complete application.

For grants up to €10,000, the municipality either sets the final award directly or grants it first and settles it later. If it grants the award first, it pays an advance equal to the granted amount and may require proof that the activity and conditions have been met. Follow the requirements in your award letter.
