Grants help Danish-registered companies, municipalities, regions and public research institutions establish or upgrade facilities for testing innovative energy and climate technologies.

Esta oportunidad está disponible actualmente en inglés.

Green Labs DK supports investment in buildings, plant, machinery and equipment, as well as patents, licences, know-how and other intellectual property used in test facilities. The 2026-II round is closed; the conditions below describe that round.

The grant is capped at DKK 100 million per infrastructure. Base rates are 45% for small companies, 35% for medium-sized companies and 25% for large companies. Public research institutions, GTS technology-service institutes, municipalities and regions are treated as companies when setting the rate. If at least 80% of facility capacity is allocated to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), these rates can rise to 50%, 40% and 30% respectively. This requires a business strategy showing how the facility targets SMEs and annual evidence of capacity use for five years after operations begin. Company size depends on staff numbers and either turnover or total annual balance-sheet value; ownership and control links to other companies can require their figures to be added wholly or partly.

The DKK 240 million call budget is shared with EUDP development and demonstration projects and IEA cooperation, so it is not reserved for Green Labs DK. VAT-registered recipients calculate eligible costs excluding purchase VAT; nonregistered recipients include it.

Eligibility

  • Your organisation must be registered in Denmark’s Central Business Register (CVR), and the lead applicant must have a Danish CVR number. Eligible applicants are companies, including GTS institutes, municipalities, regions and public research institutions. The facilities must be in Denmark.
  • Show how the facilities enable testing of innovative energy and climate technologies, support the green transition and CO₂ reductions, and can operate from user revenue. Explain user demand and the operating business model.
  • Multiple users must have access on transparent, non-discriminatory terms. The call requires user prices to reflect costs plus a reasonable margin. Investors contributing more than 10% of investment costs may receive better access terms; these advantages must be proportionate to their investment and published.
  • Internal salaries for establishing or running facilities, operating costs, business-model development, market analysis, sales promotion and other commercial market activities are excluded. Preproduction planning and streamlining production or control processes are also excluded.
  • Do not start project activities or make an irreversible commitment, such as a binding equipment purchase, before the grant and project agreement. Obtaining permits and carrying out feasibility studies do not count as starting. All project participants must declare that work has not started before the award.
  • Companies with an outstanding European Commission recovery order for unlawful, incompatible aid cannot receive support. Applicants must not be an undertaking in difficulty under Article 2(18) of the EU General Block Exemption Regulation and must make a separate declaration on this condition. Direct or indirect support to actors covered by the EU’s Ukraine-related sanctions is prohibited; applicants must declare that payment would not breach these or other EU or UN sanctions.

  • Closed 2026-II round; terms and amounts refer to that call.

The verified 2026-II round has closed. Check the official Green Labs DK call page for any later announced call and its round-specific application materials. The Danish Energy Agency’s portal is the application channel; it requires MitID Erhverv, the business login, rather than private MitID.

For 2026-II, applications requesting more than DKK 3 million had to be in English. Below DKK 3 million, English or Danish was allowed. A dispensation to write in Danish could be requested below DKK 15 million. The Danish declarations were always required.

Award recipients have one month to accept the project agreement and must not begin before the agreement is concluded. A cooperation agreement signed by all parties is due within six months of the award-letter date, unless otherwise agreed with the secretariat; payment waits until it is in place. Material changes need written GLDK approval before implementation. Budget changes must add value to the facilities and cannot be approved with less than three months remaining.

Payments reimburse actual incurred and paid eligible expenses. Costs can be included only from the project start date in the award letter and after GLDK has received the signed project agreement. Submit payment claims up to twice a year and at least once annually, with a short progress report. The last 10% is held until final reporting is approved. Annual establishment reports are required even if work has not begun or there has been no expenditure. Send final accounts within two months after establishment ends, following the applicable audit requirements, and annual operating reports for the first five years of operation. Failure to meet the 80% SME-use condition for an increased rate can lead to repayment.

Submit the final report and completion form by the end of establishment. The report must be in English unless otherwise agreed, and must include both an English and a Danish summary.

Keep accounting records and supporting documents for at least five years from the end of the calendar year in which final accounts or the final technical report are submitted. Results must be made public, with consideration for patenting and special exceptions authorised by GLDK.

When cumulative payments will exceed DKK 5 million, and each further DKK 5 million, an auditor must confirm that the bookkeeping matches the payment claims. Grants above DKK 250,000 require an approved auditor’s endorsement; grants of DKK 500,000 or more follow the full audit instructions. Institutions audited by Denmark’s National Audit Office are exempt from the approved-auditor requirement.
