Kansas heating and cooling rebates
Rebates of $150–$1,000 help residential customers in Evergy’s Kansas service territories replace air conditioners or install qualifying heat pumps.
Esta oportunidad está disponible actualmente en inglés.
Choose an energy-efficient replacement air conditioner or heat pump to reduce home energy use. The rebate depends on your existing heating equipment and the new system’s cooling efficiency rating, called SEER2. All systems must be certified by the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) at the chart’s required rating. Certification requires a matching indoor coil and may also require a new furnace or air handler; your authorized contractor checks the system combination.
- Central air conditioner replacement: $400 for SEER2 15.2–15.99, $500 for 16–16.99, or $600 for 17–40. An existing unit can be working or failed.
- Mini-split heat pump: $150 to replace a working or failed mini-split, or add one to a home with existing electric heating.
- Ground-source heat pump: $1,000 to replace a working or failed ground-source or air-source heat pump, or a central air conditioner in a home with electric heating.
- Air-source heat pump: $500 for SEER2 15.2–15.99, $700 for 16–16.99, $900 for 17–19.99, or $1,000 for 20–40. You can replace a working or failed heat pump. Replacing a central air conditioner qualifies only where the home has an electric furnace or electric baseboard heating.
Only one rebate is allowed per qualifying measure. Rebate amounts are valid through December 31, 2026, and may change without notice. Some authorized contractors apply the rebate upfront; otherwise the rebate is sent by mail. Allow up to eight weeks for processing, with possible delays for missing information.
Eligibility
- You must receive electricity under a generally available residential rate in Evergy Kansas Metro or Evergy Kansas Central territory. The installation must take place within those territories, and an Evergy-authorized contractor, known as a Trade Ally, must do the work.
- Equipment must be purchased and installed on or after January 1, 2026. Your contractor must verify compliance with building codes, zoning and other applicable requirements and obtain required permits.
- You must have the right to make the improvements and obtain any required landlord or tenant consent. Renters certify landlord or homeowner consent; without it, they agree to defend Evergy and cover claims or losses arising from the missing consent.
- Evergy can verify purchases and inspect the installation before payment. Participants may also be contacted for surveys, site inspections, measurements or data logging to verify installation and energy savings.
- The signed terms authorize use of customer account and project information for programme reporting, with confidential treatment and aggregate reporting. You remain responsible for any tax liability from the rebate.
