ENERGY STAR ground-source heat pump rebate

Minnesota PowerMinnesotacierra 31 dic 2026

A rebate for homeowners installing an ENERGY STAR ground-source heat pump in a home served by Minnesota Power or a participating electric utility.

Esta oportunidad está disponible actualmente en inglés.

You can install a new ground-source heat pump or replace an existing one, using either an open-loop or closed-loop system. Minnesota Power offers $800 per ton of heat-pump capacity, or $1,000 per ton if you choose a Master Installer certified by the Minnesota Geothermal Heat Pump Association (MNGHPA). The rebate cannot exceed 75% of the project cost, including equipment and labor.

The rebate is paid by check, with an expected wait of 8–10 weeks. The sponsoring utilities can withdraw the offer without notice. Offers may differ at participating municipal utilities, which provide their own rebates. Minnesota Power does not guarantee the participating contractor’s work.

Eligibility

  • You must be a homeowner with an eligible residential electricity account, and the heat pump must be installed in your home. Eligible utilities are Minnesota Power, City of Gilbert Utilities and Mt Iron Public Utilities.
  • The heat pump must meet the 2012 ENERGY STAR standards. Reconditioned and resale equipment do not qualify.
  • You must use a programme participating contractor, who must meet the programme’s performance standards.
  • If the heat pump connects to an existing non-electric heating system, it qualifies only when installed on or after April 1, 2026.
  • If another participating utility serves your home, confirm its offer with that utility or call 1-855-669-8196 because its programme may differ.
