Energy efficiency loan
Borrow up to $50,000 without pledging your home for insulation, heat pumps and other home energy upgrades through Clearwater Credit Union.

The loan pays for insulation and air sealing, ground- or air-source heat pumps including mini-splits, and electric vehicle wiring. It also covers doors, windows, heating and cooling equipment, and appliances that meet EnergyStar standards.
Clearwater lends you money that you repay with interest over 10 years. The loan is unsecured: it is a personal loan, rather than a mortgage, and does not require a lien on your home. There are no application or loan origination fees, and no penalty for paying the loan off early.
The published fixed annual percentage rate (APR) range is 6.90%–8.90%, effective 28 January 2026 and subject to change. Approval and creditworthiness affect your loan. Clearwater’s example is a $10,000 loan repaid over 120 months with a monthly payment of $116, depending on creditworthiness. You can make payments through Clearwater’s Digital Branch, at a branch or by phone.
Eligibility
You must qualify for Clearwater membership, and the loan is subject to approval.
You can join if you live, work, worship, attend school, volunteer or participate in a membership-based organization in one of these Montana counties: Beaverhead, Big Horn, Broadwater, Carbon, Cascade, Chouteau, Deer Lodge, Fergus, Flathead, Gallatin, Glacier, Golden Valley, Granite, Jefferson, Judith Basin, Lake, Lewis & Clark, Lincoln, Madison, Meagher, Mineral, Missoula, Musselshell, Park, Pondera, Powell, Ravalli, Rosebud, Sanders, Silver Bow, Stillwater, Sweet Grass, Teton, Toole, Treasure, Wheatland, and Yellowstone.
For doors, windows, heating and cooling equipment, and appliances, the equipment must meet EnergyStar standards.
