Air-source heat pump rebate
Boylston electric customers can receive up to $1,500 per address each year for a qualifying air-source heat pump, including heating-capable mini-splits.
Esta oportunidad está disponible actualmente en inglés.
The rebate pays $500 per ton of cooling capacity shown on the equipment’s AHRI certificate. One ton is 12,000 BTUs; the annual limit is three tons, or $1,500 per address. Ask your contractor for the certificate identifying the system and its capacity.
Claims below $1,000 are paid as a credit on your electricity bill. Claims above $1,000 are paid by electronic funds transfer or check.
Eligibility
- You must be a Boylston Municipal Light Department electric customer applying for equipment at your service address.
- The air-source heat pump must have a seasonal cooling efficiency rating (SEER2) of at least 15.2, a seasonal heating efficiency rating (HSPF2) of at least 8.1, and a coefficient of performance (COP) of at least 1.75 at 5°F. These are the cooling efficiency, heating efficiency and cold-weather performance figures to check for your system with the contractor. Ratings cannot be rounded up to meet the thresholds.
- A Massachusetts licensed contractor must install the equipment. Self-installations and ductless mini-splits that provide cooling only are excluded.
- You must buy and install the system between 1 January and 31 December 2026.
- When signing, you certify that you received a Manual J sizing report from your contractor and are satisfied the system will meet your heating and air-conditioning needs. This is the contractor’s report used to size the system for your home.
