Energy efficiency credits
Residential member-owners can receive an account credit for an ENERGY STAR heat-pump water heater.

Carbon Power & Light’s residential energy efficiency programme pays $350 per qualifying air-to-water heat-pump water heater as a credit to the member-owner’s electricity account. The unit must hold at least 30 gallons and be ENERGY STAR rated; it may include a backup resistance heating element.
The water-heater rules also list a $50 credit for switching from gas to electric.
Eligibility
- You must be a member-owner purchasing or leasing a qualifying residential unit. New and replacement units qualify.
- The installation must be served by Carbon Power & Light, whose territory covers portions of Carbon and Albany counties in south central Wyoming.
- No other Tri-State energy efficiency credit or special rate or discount may apply.
- A water heater serving as backup to another source, such as solar water heating, receives no incentive. This exclusion is separate from the permitted backup resistance element within a qualifying heat-pump water heater.
